Viable Warranty Alternatives to OPC?
Discussion
Hi,
Forgive me for posting a new topic on something that has probably been discussed eleventy billion times on this forum, but any help or advice that can be offered on the issue of warranties would be most appreciated!!
Having owned BMW's for many years, I have just purchased my first Porsche (2003 Boxster S) & am hoping to take delivery of it next weekend. I appreciate that for complete 100% cast iron peace of mind, an OPC warranty is the way to go. However, are there any independant warranties that anyone could recommend that would provide, say, 95% of the cover for, say, 60% of the price?

OPC warranty is 100% the way to go. Unlike the M-Power BMW warranties, the cost is very reasonable (somewhat less than £1k). £3 per day for peace of mind. Easy call I think. From what I have read about non OEM warranties, I would want to read the fine print very carefully before taking out the cover.
Kind regards

Was very tempted to get the OPC warrenty for peace of mind when I got my 996 last year - however I'm not a big fan of giving Porsche a grand a year, every year for something I'm not (hopefully) going to use.
Instead, I'm putting that grand to oneside in a seperate account and going to go down the Hartech route instead.
At the end of the day, as long as you have a plan (or the cash) in place to cover the worst should it happen then I wouldn't worry too much. If you will sleep better at night by having the OPC warrenty then go for it.
