Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 1989 2.7 944 with 17" Cup wheels and Its now time to start getting the bits to make it "better", so all suggestions welcome!

I was thinking of updating the front bumper to the Turbo Spec, however I can't seem to find a particular diection to head engine wise. The engine runs fine, but its a bit rattly on the top end (possibly because its been standing a while?) and I'd like a bit more ooomph. I had considered a 3.0 twin cam swap, however the experts told me it would be bloody expensive!! (Better to sell this and buy a later car, apparently).

As it was a cheap motor and in reasonable nick I'd like to hear anyones thought/experiences on which route to follow.

Regards
Ash

Look - if the car is not fast enough sell it and get another model like an S2 or a turbo.

There is absolutely no advantage in trying to upspec your car and it will be worth less afterwards than a nice standard example.

Wise words Baz
Some times you really have to think with your head and not your heart when it comes to cars. Sell it and buy a faster car, it will be cheaper on your wallet and do exactly what is says on the tin !

Depends what you want the car for. Easiest was to make it quicker is to add lightness As others have said, much easier and ultimately cheaper to buy the quicker model in the first place than try to convert it.
Though if you're going to do it just for the enjoyment tinkering you could always just stick a V8 in it

Hmmm...I'd thought about a V8 - used to run a nice one in the Darrian I built, before the MSA moved the goal posts (now got 2.5 V6 quad cam with more power!)

Okies, I think in that case I restore it, keep the alloys and cup sterring wheel to one side and hunt for a nice S2 Turbo.

Thanks for your thoughts anyway guys!
