has anyone got 295 tyres fitted on a mk1 gt3 on standard 18 sportdesign wheels

Im looking to fit pirelli corsas and they dont seem to be available in a 285 size.

so Im thinking about 235s on the front and 295s on the rear. (can get a set this size for 774 fitted)

Looking at my wheel arches, the inner lip appears to be in and I have run 235s on the front before.

Hi.

I had to fit a set of rear GT3 mk2 wheels on my Mk1 once coming back from France (had a tyre failure, no tyres available around Magny Cours so someone kindly lent me a set of rears). Had no problems with them at all. Believe they were 295s.

Cheers

Ajit.

cheers. Im pretty sure the 295 will fit the rim as the details require a size of 10"-11.5"

Now that I can get a set of corsa r tyres for nearly the same as the r888s I might give them a whirl.

I dont seem to get more than 3 track days out of the fronts on a set of toyos r888s. And people do seem to get their corsas to last longer.

Are these Corsa's the road versions or the track versions?? There is a difference, not least in the price. I thought the track tyres were close to £1100 a set.

Got message about Reg and have booked him a room, I have called to let him know.

Nothing else booked other than Spa at the moment. Must get my act together and book something soon.

TBH steve Im not sure,

Ill give them a call next week to check, but I think they are either the corsa track, or system corsa road/track tyre.

The N6 is the Corsa System road/track tyre excellent on circuit in the wet. They will fit without problems on your Mk 1, with standard 10"/8" wheels. I use them as my wet tyre setup.

With regards to the Michelin cups, it is the same tire the 285 & 295. Also remeber that the actual width of the tire varies alot dependent on which brand you are buying. I remember replacing a set of Continentals with the same dimension Bridgestones and the latter would not fit since they were noticeably wider....

Seem to remember that Adrien tried this route with his Mk1 and ended up running Mk2 rims. There may have been some clearance issues and rolling arches was suggested.

Good to see you at the PH Sunday Service - will definitely be at bedford on easter monday.

Michael

PS I heard there was a fire at a Pirelli depot which has impacted stocks of certain tires, maybe why you can't get hold of the right size?

thanks micheal.

I think my arches have been rolled already, (there's an innuendo in there somewhere)
as comparing my wheel arches to a neighbours standard C4, his arches have a 90 degree lip pointing towards the tyre which I would imagine would reduce space, whereas mine looks as if its been pinched

should be there easter monday, trying to coax a few friends along on that day.

Sounds like a great price as mine were nearer £850 as far as I can recall.

regarding the comments about Polar Express's experience, he was adviced that they would not fit his rims... I got the same advice but also advice that they WOULD fit - so I checked with Pirelli and they said no problems - and I have had no problems.

Here they are first time out at Spa last year... Can you see any problems???

'ello chaps, sorry been out celebrating the last weekend of Chinese New Year (auspicious time to be with family etc)

Yep, I run 295s on 11" wheels (Mk2/CGs). My rear arches are rolled very slightly to allow for clearance of the extra tyre width. Those tyres quoted are definitely N6 System Corsas (they are technically classified as 'road tyres' only because they are OEM fitment). Brilliant tyre. You may want to check with the likes of Kwik Fit etc as there is a Pirelli special offer on their ROAD tyres (well there was last week) which was buy 3 tyres, get the 4th free. So quite handy that it applies to the N6 System Corsa. Sadly the special offer doesn't apply to the regular Corsa which is classified as a motorsport tyre.

Front arches may/may not need to be rolled with 235s depending on the amount of negative camber you run. I run something like -3.25d on the front and there are no clearance problems with 8.5" Mk2 wheels + 235s. I still retain the standard 5mm spacer on both front and rear.

just an update.,,,

the £775 fitted was for the corsa system (which are basically the track tyre with three central grooves making it a decent compromise for a second set of alloys)

However Elitedirect are also quoting me £223 a wheel including fitting for the Corsa R tyre (in235/295 /18 sizes)
making a total of just under £900.

Not bad...any one had a cheaper quote?

Not like for like but camskill.co.uk do a set of R888s for £628 delivered, not fitted. From the reports so far, they seem to offer most of the performance of the MPSCs for 60% of the cost.

cheers

Systems definitely aren't as grippy as R888s, so not sure they should be considered fungible.

3 days out of a set of fronts seems pretty poor though. You must be bloody quick, understeering everywhere or have a strange setup!
