JZM have been lining my engine block with the sweet tears of German Rhinemaiden's and my bank manager. I have swallowed the bitter bitter pill of paying for a complete engine rebuild, with new barrels, pistons, valve guides, chains, bearings - jaysus the list / bill is endless.

I have told myself that the money is well spent in that I'm not going to sell it anytime soon and it counts as my "next" car.

The JZ boys tell me it will be a different machine and the newly recaptured horseys and torques will have me in raptures.

This had better be worth it.

Looking forward to the drive home.....

How much is Jonas charging you?....I'd budget around £2.5-£3k, any more and I think he's having a laugh...(to pay for his Arsenal season ticket!) hehe

The boys are right about how it'll feel though...you'll notice a big difference; with added 'grin' factor!

The barrels and pistons will cost over £2k plus VAT won't they? They did on my 3.0 SC 204hp. Had had it rebuilt a year earlier (with second hand barrels/pistons) so no other parts were required - bill was still £4k or so and my guy charges a lot less per hour I bet.

Whatever it cost is your business of course, run it in how they tell you, look after it and enjoy the car for many more years/miles.

I think 2.5-3 is more top end territory - this sounds like a somewhat bigger fettle

You want to run it in surely?!

I've just had a full rebuild of my 964 engine and was told to keep it between 2-4k for the first 1000 miles.....After 2,500 miles its has started to loosen up nicely. I'm v happy, but still feeling the bill somewhat

I'll be running it in gently with an eye firmly on the Fun-o-meter for the first several thousand miles.

I'm replacing all the tin ware , de catting, putting new boots on the back, replacing two cracked cylinder heads, my oil lines are all cooked and knackered - they are getting replaced.

At least my clutch and flywheel are OK (there again they should be I replaced them last year!!!!rolleyes)

In fairness, I've had it three years and in that time I've never wanted to change it so this should mean I have it for many years to come.
