Used Boxster - minor problems - dealer advice please :)

All sorted now, just needed a new MAF sensor, dealer paid for a replacement by Porsche
running like a dream !
Tyre pressures were way out, and the bushes were a bit on the creaky side because the car hadn't been driven for about 8 months

The first thing you should do is tell the dealer of all the things you've found, but do point out that the first 2 are of concern, and that you're only mentioning the others as the main ones have caused you to contact them (therefore sounding reasonable and likely to get a better response - you should always do better by being nice). If the dealer has their own workshop/mechanic the direct cost to them is minimal and they should be more than willing to sort it out for you, whether they see it as a matter of obligation or goodwill. However, if you test drove the car first they are within their rights to deny any liability on the basis they are not major faults and were present on the car at time of supply and you therefore accepted the car with its faults. Very poor customer service if they take this line, of course.
The creaking may be just anti-roll bar drop links, 1 at each corner about £25 each but you only need replace whichever one(s)'s gone and they're easy to do. The mis-fire may be just a MAF (£110 or so). This may be best case scenario of course, but more chance of the dealer taking on the faults if they think it's going to be a small bill. Once they've taken them on, they've taken them on though........
As a dealer I like to be fair to customers and sort problems out to their satisfaction. Sometimes this means they take the car to a garage nominated by me, sometimes I agree they can take it wherever they like (provided I am consulted and agree to work/costs etc) - this often depends on how far away from me the customer lives. What frustrates me is when a customer has something done elsewhere and then asks me to foot the bill, without ever having brought the matter to my attention beforehand.
I would suggest you contact the dealer to make them aware of it and (if not too inconvenient) offer to take it to show them and ask them for their proposals to rectify things.
Hope this helps. I'm sure there'll be lots more replies.............

Ready to get flammed but i had a very similar problem with my Boxster (2.5) shortly after buying i noticed there was a miss-fire and a slight hesitancy around the 4.5-5k rpm range. Two weeks later I'm sat on the A143 needing a trip to the OPC (where i was headed at the time to get a new key coded as it happened) for a new air mass flow thingymebob and a couple of new coil packs.
Not sure about the suspension at all.
Brakes. I'm 99% sure mine are OEM pads and discs and have only just had the rears refaced/skimmed. They are pants when cold but after literally a couple of seconds resting on the peadle or a couple of stops they are very good (although i do think they could be better). As for binding, they always do that, especially if it's been wet. I just leave mine in gear though and hardly bother with the hand brake (old habbit from the Meastro days when a house brick would sometimes have to be used).

The creak thing at the front I would suggest will be the control arms. If so it will get steadily worse, to the point it is embarassing to take it out. The part is just under a hundred quid each, there is one on each side labour is wherever you take it. I have just done both sides of my wifes car, OPC wanted £400 per side, I had both done at indie (Millbrooke Cars Sheffield) for £300

i would agree with andy ha. My C2 started creaking on the front off side and i had the control arm replaced by a great indie in godalming. car finally hear the engine now!
