These seem to be only two options available in the correct sizes for the 996 GT2.
The car is only used on the road.
I'm told the P Corsas need heat in them to give any semblance of grip in cooler or wet weather conditions ?

My only previous experience with Pirellis has been the Pirelli P Zero Rossos on the MK1 GT3, I can honestly say they were the worst tyres I've used on a car (tramlining, inconsistent grip, incredibly sensitive to incorrect pressures and tended to flat spot if left stationary in the garage for more than 3 or 4 days at a time)
In their defence they had nice squidgy side walls that improved the ride confused

Are the Corsa Systems a totally different design to the Rossos altogether ? If so are they truly road useable ?
Do they grip decently in damp/wet conditions

The car currently has Michelin PS fitted, which whilst they are good they're very noisy and harsh (no doubt due to the stiff sidewalls which gives a really crisp turn in)

Should I stick with the Michelins or try the Pirellis ?

Have just fitted some R888s, I know this is intended for trackwork and will be getting a suspension setup in a week, but am finding some very good on road grip with my standard setup as well.

Another vote for R888...good in the wet too (I've heard). PCT use them on their PCGB Sprint car and said their best result last year was in the wet...

Are the GT2 rears available in Toyo 8888 now? - if so I'm into a set soon. For road only the Corsa (Non-Motorsport) work well.

Speak to Steve at www.simplytyres.co.uk/

Met him at Silverstone the other day, fitted within an hour.. not a blemish on any rim, and did me a fantastic price! Then managed to get a quick dozen or so laps around the Nat circuit.

Those are not Corsa System. System have centre channel grooves in them.

So what are the tyres I've shown a picture of ?

Googled Pirelli Corsa System and came up with this : www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?tirebrand=Pirelli&tiremodel=P-Zero+Corsa+System

Is the System version a more road biased tyre than the picture I've shown ?

They are the motorsport ones, the system tyres have more of a regular road tread.

I have a pair of part worn fronts if someone is interested in both System and motorsport.

I am using Yoko A048 at the moment

Stick to Michelin PS2s.

Toyos, Corsas, System Corsas, MPSCs - all of these are track biased tyres which are compromised on the road and in wet conditions.
None of them will offer the same all round grip/safety as regular Michelin PS2s.

PS2s are great road tyres imho.

PS2s are good enough for the CGT as oem... they are good enough for the GT2.

Thanks - I saw Steve at Silverstone back end of last year and the rears were not available but on a promise. I have them on an Elise - cracking tyre and great prices!

Agree with PS2 being best for road use and mileage but still need a good warm-up, especially in wet weather.

T1S is a good grippy tyre for lightweight cars, but the sidewalls are too soft/flexible for the heavy GT2.

Also, Toyos take almost 500miles or so to scrub off the mould release!

Mich ps are shite on the cgt.Having been in a well driven 993gt2 with corsa system tyres on,i would say they are the best allrounder track and road, and fine in the wet.

Funny, was looking at a black CGT at Paragon the other day, and was shocked to see it shod with PS2s.!

Would have thought that such an exotic beast would be shod with suitably exotic rubber.

What is also quite surprising is that the CGT has on the front tyres that are inexcess of 186mph ( 94Y ) however the rears are only Z rated, this is O.E fitment from Mich, cant understand this at all...
Toyo R888 and Corsa Systems are available how ever I cant publish prices,( get in trouble again with PH ) drop me email...

Happy to Help
