Aerokit - Cool or for Fools?
Discussion
Saw this on Autotrader a few weeks back - looks like the chap has been told where to sell your car quick - Pistonheads Classifieds. I love the speed yellow on a 911 and really love the mileage on this model BUT its the aerokit that i am not too sure about, especially with the standard Carrera alloys - So question is - Is an Aerokit equivalent to a 316 with an M-Tec bodykit or a C-Class with an AMG Bodykit? Basically is it trying to be a GT3? I have emailed the guy as i am interested and would be looking to a deal BUT i am not sure about the Aerokit?? Thoughts anyone?

It all depends. If it's a C4 with a batty-box and faux badging, then it's not cool - it's just gay. But the car you've linked to doesn't have a GT3 aerokit, so it doesn't look like it's trying to pretend to be anything really, it's just being what it is - a bleedin' gorgeous 911 with a nice Porsche rear spoiler and sideskirts. I love it.

That car doesn't have the gt3 kit, just the carrera kit which is completely different (sideskirts and rear spoiler).
The kit/wheels are the same as mine, someone said it was called the carrera cup kit or something a while back on here. I think it looks good (but I would say that), the ad does bring home how much dosh I'll have lost on my 02 one with 28K up when it has to go...

Ahaa Loach - So its not an Aerokit? Just side skirts and rear spoiler? I was not sure to be honest.I must agree though, it does look stunning, mileage is also perfect and is at a good price consisdering 996's values are going down the way.
It is an aerokit, but not a replica GT3 one

No - as has been mentioned above, the original owner specified the Aerokit "Carrera", which is different to the GT3 kit. As such, you needn't worry about notions of the car pretending to be what it's not. TBH, that kit really suits that car with its yellow paintwork and all - and the price seems fair for something so nicely kitted out and with such low mileage. For what it's worth (precisely nothing), I really like it.
Hi there
I have a C2 cab tip my car has an aerokit minus the spoiler at the back as I thought it was a bit too much on the cab and I think it looks great. Generally confirmed by others. It came from the factory this way by the chap who ordered it.

I like the look of the kit. If you are going for the "hey look at me yellow" then you may as well go for the whole hog and get the spoilers and skirts as well. Personally, I wouldn't have a 996 without the kit, irrespective of the body colour.
It would look better with different wheels.

as loach said its not the gt3 aero kit on that car its the carrera aero kit.
I personally love 911's with a spoiler and its a bit like marmite with most people loving or hating.
i pref to be a bit original though and that carrera kit would be preferable over a gt3 kit on a c2, but id rather find a 3rd party one that no one else has got and be completly unique

and if you want it, PM me through profile as its currently for sale not sure what its worth, make me an offer

I could never warm to the factory kits for their poor man's GT3 look. This rear end, however, looks tasty...
Aerokits look great in my opinion. Make the 911 look much better, i used to own a 3 series convertible with the M Sport guise and to be honest people could call it a wanna be M3 but thats not why i bought it..the M Sport guise made the car look far better over the standard 3 series likewise the 911 looks better with Aerokit...all in my humble opinion of course.
