I'm about to use these guys:

www.carinspections.co.uk

They are a specialist company that uses experts in a particular brand to inspect and they go anywhere. Cost is £275 all in. Seem very helpful and friendly, drop them an email.

Cheers

I did - by Strasse, as already recommended.

They did a similar kind of tick-sheet check to the 111 point OPC check - it was reasonably thorough. Cost was around £120 from memory.

I used them for the first PPI I had done - they sub-contracted it to GCR Pure Porsche in Leicester, as the nearest member of their "panel" of approved inspectors.

The service received was fine - I got a good report from Chris at GCR and walked away on the basis of his advice. But you can probably save yourself £150 or so by asking on here or on the PCGB forum or on 911-uk.com for recommedations for whichever area your target purchase is in and then cut out the middleman and get it done directly.

Nothing wrng with their service, I hasten to add - just that you can save yourself a chunk of cash, as I did when I came to have my second PPI done and went directly to Strasse.

Thanks.
Just called Strasse and they want £150 + VAT for a 117 Point check. Which is good.
Am still waiting for a call back from CarInspections.

So you're saying that they both do the same check, since they will most probably sub-contract Strasse (or another) to do the same check and just keep the rest as a finders fee?

Good to know. Thanks.

That's pretty much it.

It may be that CarInspections staff cover certain areas themselves but I got the impression that they would sub-contract stuff outside their immediate area and then mark up the fee that the sub-contractor would usually charge. Nothing wrong with that as a business model - except there's no reason to pay that mark up if you yourself know who to go to in the first place.

(I assume you're the same maksing that used to post over on s2ki.....?)

The prospective car in question has been looked after by Strasse already, so I think I will just go straight to them for the inspection. I did try to ask the guy how their inspection compared to OPCs, but he was very conservative and just said he did not know what they did as part of theirs.

Although (see my other recent post regarding warranties) I might go for the OPC inspection since it is the same price (£150 + VAT) and that would set me up for the extended warranty at £895. Otherwise I would have to go have another 111 point inspection done at OPC first.

Yep, same guy. Wow, that is a long time ago. Must be a couple of years.
So how long you been a Porsche owner? Did you go to Porsche straight from the S2K?

I bought my 993 back in November, having sold my second S2000 in August after 4 years of owning them. Nothing wrong with it - I just fanced a change and have wanted a 911 for as long as I've had any interest in cars.

If you're going to stick the OPC warranty on, I'd agree that it probably makes more sense to get the OPC check rather than have to pay what amounts to the same fee twice.
