I've just bought a 928 for a grand!!!

Just need it to do a weeks stirling work for this years scumball rally.

Bought it from a salvage auction with a flat battery so don't even know if it runs yet!!!

Apparently it also has no reverse (auto). Is this a new gearbox or could it be something else?

Anyone know how much time for g/box replacement - and of a cheap box (found a breaker who can do one for £350)

Help greatly appreciated

Doesn't sound like it's a new gearbox...

Just get practicing those handbrake turns

Gearbox is a borg-warner box similar to mercedes from memory (assume auto by the way) and many moons ago you`d get them re-furbished for circa £4-500 upwards so not thousands & thousands of pounds to sort.

2nd hand box a bit of a risk if you`re having to pay labour to fit unless the person selling the box is happy to fit, a much better idea as then if there`s a problem it costs you nothing.

Check out these guys www.928spares.co.uk i'm sure they'll be a great help for sourcing spares etc. I read they can supply and fit an Auto Box for £750.00
