I went off to get a set of tyres for my 993 last week and when I started looking through the recommended sizes I noticed my cars doesn’t seem to have on the right size tyres.

I have a 993 with turbo alloys and I believe they should be running 285/30 (18 inch) on the rear but mine has 265/35s which seemed a little odd. Is there a way I can check the part number on the wheels and what the recommended tyre size should be?

so your 993 is just a carrera, and not a turbo ??

You need to look inside the wheel, on the back of the spokes.

The part nos and wheel size/offset are stamped there. 285s sound a bit big for a narrow body 993.

Have a look on a tyre manufacturers website. Michelin is quite good. Put in the wheels sizes for a Turbo and see what it comes up with.

edited to add. I take that back it looks from the picture on your profilce that you have turbo twist style wheels not the wheels from a wide body turbo. I would still check on the Michelin website.

265/35/18 is correct narrow body fitment and probably better balanced handling .. 285/30 only on wide bodies.

cheers, Maurice

I run 285/30/18's on my narrow bodied C4. No rubbing or handling issues as far as I can see.

It's just a C4 narrow body (been a while since I could say I have a narrow body!)

I'll have a look behind the wheels and see if I can see any indications. I hope they are 265 as they are cheaper (not saying I'm tight or anything...)
