Hi all

Assuming there are no legal issues (both from track days or MoT pov) would you remove the cats out of a GT3? Why, why not?

Thanks for all/any advice.

Think you would have an emmisions problem at MOT time, that's why the cats are there. Maybe you need 200 cell cats which would significantly free up your gas flow but also clean it up enough for the MOT inspection.

I guess I would - cos it would provide more power - BUT

I don't know how you would overcome the emissions light on the dash of the Porsche and if that affects anything.

Also, I am guessing that the map would have to altered to make effect of the missing CATS...

In theory - you should have more power.

It is not legal for the road as I understand it.

I have the Tubi Race cats they are very good but noise is a problem everywhere
Test pipes are an option but they can give issues with the engine managment warning light as the sensor is not telling the CPU what it is expecting to hear and they are realy loud.

A MoT emissions ok here in Spain is, let's say, easy to get... And I don't use the car on the road so no 'ethic' issue either: no significant emissions increase!

So from a pure performance pov (assuming I can deal with the warning light!) I think I'll go for it... It's just that before the GT3 I had a 964 RS and this one makes no noise whatsoever!

Thanks!

Tiago my Portuguese friend you should leave in at least sports cats as this generation of Porsche needs some back pressure to work properly. In UK I can get the old cats cut out and 200 cell units put in, along with Cargraphic rear boxes it now makes a good noise. Use V Power with one of our programmes and = 400 BHP

Cheers
