Got stuff through from RUF about the upgrade to 997 C2S - 21700 Euros plus VAT makes for about GBP 17k all in.

This gets you 435 brake and a 2 year warranty on the engine - servicing at local OPC.

Anyone done this, thought about this, had significant misgivings about doing it?

I like the idea of stealth 997 - GT3 power without the harshness on the road and nearly turbo power without the wings / bling.

Opinions please

For that kinda money , sell the basement 3.8 engine and insert GT1 block in it's place silly

.. Or is it all that silly???

Could you put a GT3 engine in a boggo 996/997??

It really is a pity that Porsche don't offer this type of engine upgrade off the shelf to those of us who would kill for n/a GT power with 4 seats.

Well, if Porsche offerd the GT3 engine as an option for non-GT3 cars, it would probably kill demand for the GT3. Relative exclusivity is part of the appeal. This is possibly why some people prefer the Mk2 GT3 over the MK1 - there are a few standard cars with the MK1 bodykit, but very few standard facelift cars with teh MK2 bodykit.

We won the coupe' class at this years Tuner GP at Snetterton with a 997C2S fitted with a TTP twin turbo system. Produced around 460 BHP & 470Lb-ft. Standard servicing at any OPC. Runs out at cEuro 24,000 + vat = £19400 inc vat

Allan

BTW we were faster than the 997 Twin Turbo entered by Evo magazine on Michelin Cups, we were running Michelin Sport Pilot so it could drive home again.

Starting to think that for circa 75k for a 997S plus twenty ishk = 95k looks pretty sheepish next to a say 103k TT with ceramics on it......

Taking a test drive of the 997 TT in 2 weeks time.
