I've just bought my pride and joy - a 2s coupe (2007 MY). Been asked by my insurer as to whether it has an alarm, immobiliser and tracker. Now I know it has a VTS Thatcham 5 tracker so that's a tick in that box and that tracker system can "immobilise" the car if needed remotely - does anyone know if the actual key has an immobiliser as well as the alarm. Thanks.

Yes. All UK supplied 997s contain a factory fitted alarm and immobiliser as standard. When you remove the key from the ignition lock the immobiliser is automatically activated and vice versa. The alarm is activated once you lock the doors via the key remote.

To check its working, put the key in the ignition lock but don't turn the engine on. Wait for 2 mins and the immobiliser will active and you won't be able to start the car without completely removing the key and starting again.

Hope it helps.
