Well after lots of reading about the differernt options, convincing myself i had to find a low millage one owner car with nav privately or at an indi to ensure i'm getting best value . I've gone and put a deposit down on a 21k mile 52 plate 996tt without nav from a opc! Lets hope the aero kit and x50 pack makes up for the lack of nav.

Why, well after the csl its the only car i'v seen that managed to get me to prize my wallet open!

I'v a long drive up to scotland tomorow , lets hope its as good in the flesh, so to speak as it looks in the photos .

NICE WORK! Welcome to the club! You're gonna love the drive back!

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of deal did you get on it? Above or below 60?

As it stands 56.5K, hopeing to take some more off tomorow, they are doing a plug change / brake fluid change and painting the PU etc. I have to say it's going to have to be mint for me to finalise the deal for that sort of money!

It started off at 59990.00 . There is one in west london with 18k and nav as well as x50 and they want 61990 for it and won't move on price i'v tried twice.

Navigation schmavigation. You can get that rectifed later - far nicer to have it with the baby-GT2 X50 kit IMO. Sounds fabulous. Lucky you.

Erm...it's a manual, right?

That's a damn good deal for X50 and Aerokit on a 52 car with that kind of mileage. Just a quick look at the website confirms that most non-X50 cars with that kind of mileage etc are around 60 and up.

Speaking from experience, it's not easy getting OPCs down that much. Make sure to look at the entire service history and make sure you're getting a good feel for the guys. Talk to their head tech as well to get the low-down.

Exhausts - get them comfortable that you're going to do that. A lot of OPC will tell you that they'll yank your warranty for it. Another good reason to get their lead tech alone for a little talk about it.

Good luck with it.

I know. It has GOT to be down to costings or production-line efficiency (read speed and cost-saving) that Porsche do this to car interiors. There's nothing wrong with a nice shade of tan or terracotta in a car. Done nicely, even red can look fantastic in a car's cockpit. But why Porsche extend these lairier colours to everything from the steering wheel, to the door tops to the carpets and dashboards is totally beyond me. Puke. They didn't do this with the 993s - it's something that arrived with the 996. Which isn't a dig at the 996, but it does smack somehow of 'Wiedekinism' that choosing an interior colour other than black dams you to live a life in a mobile solarium.

Well just arrived back from scotland . and all changed , saw the black x50 car and while it had not been preped , it was on the ramp getting checked over .

It appeared to be in a bit of a state , the front lip of the aero kit was worn away allowing the the bottom to flap in the wind , they had told me they were painting the front pu and bonnet but it was covered in stone chips and swirl marks , the front wheel had very heavy corrosion arround the whole of the inner wheel rim. In fact all the underside was covered with quite heavy corrosion.

Just did not feel happy spending that kind of money on a car which was in worse condition than my last one !

Anyway went to see a cobalt car in glasgow which again was not the one, and ended up back with the 13.5k mile 04 seal gray car in glasgow which is all being well i will pick up friday .

It's going to be a long week!

Well Done Keith, I can relate to your comments. you can get a feel of whether the car was 'loved' or not by taking a long hard look.

When you got your heart set on a model, cash in your pocket, it takes a strong will to walk away from one.

RE: Interiors, I thought the 'pimped up' versions are picked from the options list. If sir is willing to pay for it, sir can have it pretty much anyhow he likes..

I'd convinced myself the black car was the one on the way up , as you say it just did not looked like it had been looked after put me right off.

When i saw the gray car dispite it being dirty looked the better car .
