I have just had an OPC Report back and brake discs came up. 80% used.

They say I have to get these replaced before they will give me a warranty even though the brakes would not be covered under the warranty anyway.

What is that all about???

My Inspection was the same time as a service. Front brakes were noted as being worn past the safety limit but it made no difference to the warranty at all.

I fell into this con as well with suspension struts - make you change them at full OPC rates, but not covered under warranty. Their reasoning to me was that it is attached to something which is warranted, so must be changed......my response was that they didn't ask me to change my magic tree which was also attached and well past its useful date rolleyes

Bunch of w@nkers

They said the car has to be 100% before they will put a warranty on it.

Someone on here got that response from a 111 check and he told em he'd change the discs if they warranted them!! ..

I didn't get any of this hassle from my OPC , they just advised me I'd need to change em soon (but then they always say that!!)

Could I suggest you get your warranty from another OPC .. Or at least threaten to do this.

That is not a bad approach. Thanks.

If I go to another OPC for warranty though, I do have to go through the 111-point check again, right?

Yeah , they probably have you there .. Unless.....

The other approach might be to ring a few centres up and ask em if they would warranty your car if the only thing they found was part worn discs... If they say 'yes' then suggest the check is done and you want to warranty your car with them , and you'll also be happy to return to them when it's service time ...

It's worth a shot.. They're all vying for the same business...

To be fair if they told me my brakes only had 20% of life left in them and it was a year to the next service I'd get them changed. Thats just my take on it.
