I'm now just 2 days away from picking up my new beautifully zymolled silver 993 C2S. Just to make me feel even better about purchasing a motoring icon (as if I needed to!), can anyone tell me how much the C2Ss cost when they were new in 1997?

I'm guessing, but a 993 Targa was 62,250, and a TT over 80k. So... C2S maybe just shy of 70k? Certainly 70k with a few toys on it. What would 70k be equivalent to now...80k? Slightly more maybe?

I think loach will be close - but if you're buying from a dealer maybe he can tell you from his Glass's guide, which I think lists the new prices against today's.

The figures will be a bit misleading. Ten years ago cars were massively over-priced.

For example:

In 1997, a new Boxster 986 2.5 was £33,500

In 2007, a new Boxster 987 2.7 is £33,170

According to the February 1995 price list a 993 C2S Tip, was £59,470.

After VAT , but before your original buyer hit the options list....

Tonnes of stuff!
From memory items like sports seats, comfort seats with ruffled leather, heated seats, electric lumbar adjustment, full leather interior, OBC, Motorsound package, cruise control, upgraded sound package, DSP, phone car kit, Xenons, M030 chassis, 18" Technology's, aluminium dials, Turbo rear spoiler, Turbo S spoilers front & rear, Turbo S rear arch intakes.

A big list basically!

C2S was only made for just over a year. 1997 with tthe odd 98 car.

List from memory for a base 2S was £64,995

I paid £38,380 for a 2.5 boxster with pretty basic spec in 1997 and sold it for list a year later, then bought a 97 black C2S for £54k and always remember not being able to actually get hold of a new one.

As stated above, porsche cars were overpriced, I bought a new 993 C4 for £73k again fairly basic spec, how pleased was I when someone at work wanted to buy it after only owning it for a few months and offer full list price for it just ahead of the porsche price cuts.

Both my 993 C4S were £80k give or take a few pounds.

They only made the widebody 2WD cars for just over a year in circa 97.

The bit 'According to the February 1995 price list a 993 C2S Tip, was £59,470' possibly refers to a 993 C2 Tiptronic S, which is a 2WD narrow body car.

A few dealers also make the same mistake and descibe the car as a C2S tip and not a C2 TipS.
