Wondering whether any 997 RS/GT3 owners have any feedback on these now that you've had the opportunity to try them on a few track days?

Incidently my dealer confirmed that 20% GT3 and 60% RS owners have gone the PCCB route

Would also be interested to hear anyone's experiences with the standard steel brakes

Actually, the % on GT3s is much higher - also nearer 60%.

Are they the % that his dealership has ordered or from the higher power(PCGB)?

From as you say the 'higher power' PCGB

Anyway irrespective of how many there are I'd be interested in feedback on both types.

I've tried the PCCB's which were awesome but wanted to check durability etc and whether anyone had feedback regarding the standard steel brakes?

My information comes from the factory delivery people, and a survey on Rennlist.

Most UK OPCs have only delivered a handful of cars each, so their stats won't be particularly meaningful.

Do you know how many RS's have them?

No, although all those I've seen have them.

There is a lot more optimism about the latest (Gen 3) PCCBs and, so far, I'm not aware of any problems. Most people who spec them are no doubt expecting them to live up to all the various claims. If not, then they can be easily retro-fitted with steels.

I haven't driven a new GT3 on steels, so I can't compare, but the PCCBs are truly fantastic.

I've got steels on mine, I did try both this weekend on the Porsche driving day, in honesty I couldn't feel much difference, maybe the ceramics were a touch better! The instructor said that the big benefit of the PCCB's is the fact they simply don't fade, but this only really applies for track driving!
None of us yet know what the reliabilty will be like although everything looks positive, the only other point the instructor made, is (just like steels) you can still knacker the ceramics by abusing them on track, that still worries me with the costs involved!

to be honest i dont really think there is a need to purchase PCCBs because porsche wouldnt fit inadequate brakes to a road/track car although i do agree that if you are on track and using the brakes alot then the PCCBs would be slightly better because they are much more fade resistant but then again they do cost over £5000 on top of the standard car.

My steels on my now sold RS cracked after 2 track days and after 4 they where approx 5-6mm long. To me exactly the same as the 996.

Not sure about ceramics and life expectancy but i am sure it will only be a matter of time!

First, keep an eye out for www.failedpccb.com - it's a website that has real life accounts from owners who have experience with the PCCB's. It will be going live soon.

I have used the steel brakes on my 997 GT3 twice on circuit now and I have nothing but praise for them. I have used them both on Silverstone and Bedford.
My last outing at Bedford saw the car out for about 15 laps before I decided to come back in to the pits again - the brakes were as good as the first lap and saw no amount of fade or overheating.

At first, I had some regrets over not ordering the PCCBs as I've heard good things - but they are a large premium for what appears to be little on track benefit.

I guess if I was out for 20-30 laps without stopping (unrealistic), I would definately kill my steels.
