I'm looking at buying a C4S, can someopne tell me what the X51 pack is and what it includes?
Also I've seen some exhaust ends that look like 2 twin pipes overlapping each other - is this standard or part of a sports exhaust system or what?
Also some front bumpers have cut aways like I've seen on the turbo, is this standard?
Also are red brakes, just red brakes or are they different in any way and is there anything stopping me from painting my own brakes red?

Cheers

Got a C4S, but can't help you with the X51 pack question as mine isn't ! No doubt someone will be along in a minute tho'....

The front PU is fitted as standard from a turbo, but with a slightly different lower lip with a cut-out recess in the centre for some reason.

The red brake calipers are also from the turbo and standard on the C4S - so if you buy one you won't need to paint them yourself !

The twin oval exhaust tips are nothing more exciting than an aftermarket swap from the standard single oval ones, just bolted on and have no relevance to whether or not there is a sports exhaust fitted. It seems people either love them or loathe them - I have them and love them !

Hope this helps - IMHO the C4S is the best looking Porsche from the rear.

X51 is the Carerra Power Kit (X50 on the TT). £9K factory option.

My car has it (for sale here: www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/149502.htm )

Here is what is added/modified in the X51 kit:
- new intake manifold with modified cross-section (material: sand cast aluminium );
- new intake pipe supports adapted to the form of the intake manifold;
- new exhaust manifolds with larger cross-section and optimized flow behavior;
- new cylinder heads with optimized, CNC-milled inlet ducts;
- new camshafts with larger valve stroke on the inlet side and modified inlet and outlet timing;
- inlet valve springs adapted to the enlarged valve stroke;
- modified partition box in the oil pan;
- modified maps for the DME control module;
- new underside panel in the transmission area;
- all cars (except C4S) get a third radiator.

I never tire of posting this picture:

Woohhh

Cheers guys - I knew that wouldn't take long to get answered!

Is the insurance going to take a hike if I buy a car with the X51 kit then?

I've got the X51 on mine. Makes a noticeable difference to power (though it won't turn a C4S into a TT!!)

As for insurance; yes, it makes a big difference if you tell them.

So you only get 10 packs in the 51 pack set up?
Perhaps the other 41 packs are contained in the original 10 packs? Either way you dont get many packs for the 9 k 51 pack price tag do you!

well im wondering what the irish will keep in his wallet once the x51 goes. a photo of the kids perhaps, or worse, "here is a photo of the engine bits for the car i used to own......"

seriously though I - hope you get in something swift soonest.

Back OT - yes the C4S looks great but its a lot of money when you compare it to a turbo

the red brake calipers, iirc are the actual turbo set up

OK, so if for example I buy a C4S with X51 option pack, then what do I tell the insurance company when they ask what model is it?
I say C4S X51
they probably say... "Is that just the C4S sir?"
I say "yes" and mumble "sort of..." rolleyes
They say "has it got any modifications"
I say "only factory fitted options"

Then I have an accident and the assesors turn up and say "what the censored is this????

I'm guessing the insurance company probably isn't going to know what the X51 pack is, I don't want to tell them its a bunch of components and pass them Irish's e-mail address, but then I don't want to have any problems with them saying I didn't declare anything if anything happens.

I've only been asked by insurers if it's been modified from standard which I take to mean once it leaves the factory

It's a worry for sure. Best buy a turbo. Or are you a hairdresser?

Are well strictly speaking if its come from the factory like that its not an add on..however if you add it later..well guess what its an add on. Bloody odd but that seams to be the way it is.
Its a bit like the sports exhaust, mine came with it on so the insurance not arsed about it.

Agreed, say your car has been modded by Ruf, Techart or similar and it's ker ching.
When I got quotes for an X50 TT, the fact it was a factory upgrade seemed to not be an issue at all.

Actually I should say forget the C4S + X51 go for the C4S + twin turbo option pack instead...
