There has been lots of press on the new Jaguar XK attempting to compare it to the 911. They are also attempting to compare the XKR to the S. Seems to be a hot topic for XK owners to claim this car is in the same league as the 911. Perhaps it makes them feel better?

I actually own both and I can tell you they are not even in the same league. This discussion is remarkably quiet on the porsche side of the fence which probably is testimate to the fact that most Porsche owners don't believe they need to even dignify the conversation.

I'd like some help from the porsche community to bring the real deal to the light of day.

Please take a look at this video on YouTube. I need some help getting the play count up so that the public can see what a piece of shite the Jag actually is.

Here is the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAibNrzcigs

Thanks for your help.

If they are all like the very pretty 4.2 V8 that I sat behind at 45mph on glorious roads between Harrogate and Skipton last Sunday, then there clearly is no comparison!

I agree, my mate has a new XK and it's no drivers car and certainly not in the same league as a 911. I test drove its more expensive sister, the Vantage, last week. I must admit I was really hoping I would be blown away. Partly because I fancy a change from Porsche after many years and partly because it is so pretty. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed by a car. Firstly I was hoping for a great noise - yes it's good but not at all as special as I have read (and it had fuse 22 or whatever removed). Secondly, it really felt underpowered. Admittedly I current drive a GT3 but it didn't feel like it would have kept up with my C2S. It was also pretty clear that salesman had had many similar comments from 911 owners trying their demos.
Apparently there is a supercharged version coming out which might tempt me but until then it looks like I will be sticking with Porsche for the time being.

James Brown, how cool was that track ?
Can't comment on Jaguar, just know that I'd never buy one.

I guess the issues must stem from the wood trim...

Strange why anyone would want to compare a GT to a sports car. BTW the acceleration figures for the standard XK are no better then a 968 or a 944 S2 (ISTR 14+ seconds to 100 mph). If one really needs a bigger boot and some silly little rear seats a secondhand 928/944/968 makes more sense IMHO (probably last longer anyway).
