Apologies for the long-post....

Just thought I would share with the PH collective my little Sunday morning hoon - one which revitalised my car passion at a time when it was beginning to fade...

I woke early on Sunday Morning (04:55) it was still dark... so I pottered around the house thinking about the day ahead and I thought I would go for a blat... I left as dawn was just about to break, somewhere between 05:30-06:00, for a journey down to Brighton...

The roads were, unsuprisingly, clear and I approached Dartford Crossing only to find the bridge closed for maintenance - it has been years since I have gone North-South via the Tunnel at this crossing... anyway no traffic so just cruised through...

This is where I had my first 'spot' of the morning... a extremely well kept Black 355 Berlinetta at the toll booths being driven by another, it would appear, like-minded owner out to enjoy the roads before all-manner of numptia awake.

I press-on, exchange glances and a small awknowledgement with the grinning berlinetta driver and enjoy the weird site of an empty M25...

As I approach the M25/A21 intersection (jct 6 I think) I spot a similar silhouette in the distance... sure enough about 800 yds ahead was a 911 convertible... we make progress around the twisty junction that this is and there it was... a very impressive looking 911 Turbo S convertible in Black with Black wheels and yellow belts... a very brief acceleration test was embarked upon... and I could hear the familiar rush/roar noise of the Turbo S as we proceeded to gather pace, after a brief spell I pass the 911 cab and again awknowledgements were exchanged... in front of the stunning ragtop Porka was a Ferrari of a few years ago... I think it was a Mondial... nonetheless still had excellent road-presence...

Onwards to the M23... where I was treated to the view of a Ferrari 400i in Rosso, enjoying daybreak and an empty south-east road network...

On the A23, about 5 miles south of Crawley I am tailed by a beautiful Rosso 355 Berlinetta which follows for several miles and then passes by at a respectful pace - to the owner of that beauty... Congratulations... a stunning car... some things just don't lose their looks...

Shortly after that encounter, I was treated to a rare sight indeed... a Rosso F40 heading North on the A23... a very brief but lovely sight.

I approach the outskirts of Brighton at around 06:45 ... I have now picked up a Dakar Yellow BMW M Coupe (aka Breadvan) ... again our unusual convoy lasts for a few miles and ends with a waved hand and a nod...

Brighton. Not much going on here at this time... a few weary looking clubbers gathered in small groups obviously recounting the previous nights fun... I proceed to travel East along the front of Brighton toward and just beyond the Marina where I turn around and go west. After a few miles I again turnaround and set off for home... I pull up to an empty Shell station and fill-up with Shells finest (not to mention a small pie) - and head North out of Brighton...

The journey home was not as eventful... I was tailed out of Brighton by a very nice looking 996 C4S... another nod and a wave and he went on ahead. I pulled off at Burgess Hill to have a look at the OPC (never been there before) but it was locked up good and proper with nothing outside on display... so I continue... as I head towards the slip-road of the A23 a Yellow 997 S heads towards me with another Driver with a massive grin travelling at a healthy speed.

I reach home at 08:45... before the day had begun for most... not one road-rage incident was seen... no aggressive driving... nothing... no queues on the roads...

A refreshing change - and a very pleasant way to start the day.

Sounds like some perfect timing, I normally meet the 'nice' cars when I've got the screamin missus/child in car
