ok, sorry about the vagueness, (am offshore at moment and had to go out to do a job.) anyway, the one i looking at is a carrear 4 cabriolet 1989.
i have only seen pics of it at the moment, but it looks a genuine car, the owners had it since 2000 and bought it from paragon? it has 90k.
Have never owned a porsche before, and quite like the classic shape (and price) of this era.
it will only be used on a weekend every now and then, though i do have some concerns regarding servicing/maintenance costs etc.
is there any company that would carry out a inspection?
here is the link.

any advice would be greatly appreciated and welcomed

milage no issue, looks good in the pics, only issue that would put me of is its been stored for 5 years, porsches dont like being sat, if it had 200k miles on the clock and was used daily id rather buy the one thats been run regular.
if your serious about buying it the only way id buy it is by having it inspected by a independant specialist, that way you will get a rundown of all the bits that may need attention.

That might go extra for a C4. The AWD system on these earlier cars is more complex than the one that replaced it on the 993 and 996 ranges. I think there's a fair bit more gubbins in there to potentially go wrong. Well - maybe not a fair bit; but a bit. AS DG says, it might be foolish not to get the car thoroughly inspected.
With that service history gap I would certainly get a PPI.
Cars of that age could have troubles with the distributor belt disintegrating, I can't fully make out if it has the vent kit fitted. It will also have the gasketless heads, so it may leak there, compression test and leakdown would be my option on this.
Fluids will need a complete flush and replace, regardless of mileage, brake fluid is used in the clutch system so will need looking at the slave cylinder for this.
It's very unlikely that the aircon will work properly, so you'll need to factor that in, somewhere around the 1-1.5k mark for a overhaul.
If you can get it for a good price, say 10k or thereabouts it would be worth a punt, spend another 5-6k on the engine, clutch and fluids and then have what should be a pretty good car.
Kevin.
