While I'm aware that I shall provoke a degree of sniggering from the manual motorist, I'm looking for some advice about problems with my Tiptronic.
I noticed on the motorway yesteday that there was some slippage when in 5th. Applying about 25% throttle in 5th at around 70mph, the revs suddenly rise about 300rpm as if a mysterious "4th and a half" had been installed in the gearbox. The rise is not a change to 4th, and the indicator light on the dash does not show 4th. Once the speed increases to say 90mph it feels fine. As I say, it feels as if there's some "give" in that gear which shows itself when the engine picks up. This happens in "manual" mode too, which I tried to see whether it was a glich in the electronics.
[Update] Just taken her our a spin, and the slight hesitation at the 3000rpm point is noticeable in most gears. It is most conspicuous in 5th because it occurs and motorway cruising speeds and because in auto mode 5th gear is the one that is most often engaged. Seems more conspicuous on a long journey too.
The last car I had that drove like this, was a SAAB auto about 10 years ago shortly before I spent about 4 grand on a new gearbox.
Could anyone give me advice about this, or should I be reaching for my warranty documentation?
