Hi all,

I sold my 2003 996 a few months back as we moved up the property ladder and we have a baby due in June - I bought an A4 Avant as the family car which is superb but I've realised that I can't get by without a 911. The finances are looking pretty good so I'm now thinking about getting a pre facelift C2 with the GT3 kit and sports exhaust. I've owned 2 standard 996 C2s before and although I love them I want something that looks a bit more aggressive this time.

Anyway, there's a car in the classifieds that looks pretty good although it's Metallic Viola - I haven't seen this colour before and the pictures show the car in the shade. Before I get excited about this car can anyone provide any links to pictures of Metallic Viola cars so I can get a better idea of what it looks like.

Cheers

its a new one on me I must confess.

My C2 facelift is for sale in the classifies. It has switchable PSE and the GT3 alloys but no body kit. A genuine history well maintained car which would work as an excellent base for your requirements.

Cheers for those pictures - hmmmm so Metallic Viola is purple then... the search continues.

Thanks but I think a facelift car would probably be out of my price range, especially when you factor in the 40 grand OPCs charge for retro fitting the aerokit

It was a limited edition colour (millenium was one occasion I think).. In the flesh its a very nice colour, def. not just 'purple', it changes depending on light

There's a 964 celebration in that colour at Paul Devyea ... it looked very good in the flesh, not too purple ...

Is it the one on the celebration 964, if so very nice indeed, quite dark and not obviously purple till you have a good look.

Some examples :

Cheers for those links, the classifieds link is the car I was talking about

From those pictures it looks either very dark or very purple. I think I'd need to see it on a sunny day to judge whether or not I like it. I'll have a look around the dealer's websites to see if anyone's got anything in that colour so I can go and have a look - don't want to waste the guys time by turning up to view it and saying "nah, I don't like the colour" - that kind of comment would really annoy me if it was my car.

FWIW I love the colour, but then I love Lapis and Rainforest green as well. Most will assume its black or midnight blue from a distance. Its not a wild colour at all very subtle and understated.

I had a Viola Metallic C4 with a GT3 aero kit, here's the only 2 pics I have left online. If you want I can email ya some more to check out the colour. It is a great colour that actually changes depending on the light.

Yep thats the colour, its like a deep purple, theres a few 996's circa 1999 floating around in it, bit different to the usual blues or silver, needs to been sparkling clean to look its best though

99% of the time it looks black but get some strong sunshine and it really comes into its own. If I could figure out thow to post pictures here I would be able to demonstarte that its one of the best colours of the lot.

Having seen your car on the road, as well as in your running reports it certainly suits the Celebration
