Bugger Me - That is going to be one very very fast car... not to mention very expensive...

What a beauty.

It is real, it has a minimum of 700bhp and it will be very very very fast indeed.

That looks ferocious. What a weapon - and no doubt eye-wateringly expensive. What I'd love to see someone do, though, is a stripped out lightweight Cayman - an RSish one such as Porsche keep supposedly threatening us with. White, stripped, tidy cage, lightweight buckets with quilted cloth, no PASM, lightweight engine internals, lightweight carpet and reduced sound insulation, maybe carbon roof and front/rear decks if the boat's being pushed out. A club racer in the spirit of the 968 CS. The 997GT3 is superb, but at 90k+ with one or two bits on, it's hardly a toy.

ETA - Another photo from Mekon's source. Looks great.

Yes pretty much, the rear chassis parts are actually made from a solid billet of aluminium.

It is not cayman based

it'd possibly use some parts made for the Ruf R40, after all the engine is basically the same...

FANTASTIC car(s), anyway

Im sure it will go well (understatement of the year) but to me it looks more like something Gemballa would produce rather than RUF. Rufs have always been rather more subtle.

Hey people FORGET IT!! The car is NOT based on the CAYMAN. I read the German car magazine "Auto Motor und Sport" Yesterday and they say it is 911 front chassis and the rear is a own engineered by Ruf aluminium tubular frame - so no Cayman-stuff at all! - I am so happy to tell you that - because the PURE 911 ROCKS - and Ruf knows that

see: www.auto-motor-sport.de

the m5-board also knows it already, it is in the thread: www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1016602

Er, didn't Porsche design the 996 and Boxster based on sharing most of the front, back then? confused

Sounds interesting, especially as RUF now feel the need to manufacture their own chassis parts. I'll reserve judgement on the looks just now, though.
