Think the central locking on my 997 is bust.

The little light on the key comes on when I press the button so I don't think the key battery is dead but the car doesn't lock/unlock (doors or boot) at all. I can manually open the doors and the car starts no prbs so I don't think the car battery is low/dead. However, when I manually unlock the door the alarm always comes on until I put they key in the ignition and turn the power on... Strange... Wife is travelling with the other key so can't try that.

Car going for service next Monday so will get it looked at but annoying my neighbours by setting off the alarm at 5.30am every morning when I leave for work.

Anyone have a magical cure/reset that I can try?

I would say it's the key battery, the light might come on but there may not be enough power in it to unlock the doors. Buy another battery, for a few quid it's worth trying!

Try putting the key in the ignition, and holding the lock/unlock button the key in for 5 seconds or so.

Then take the key out and try it....

Will try this in the morning. I have the same problem at OP but without any alarm coming on.

Try placing the fob on the offside A pillar and pressing the "Open" button on the fob.

Wow

The hold-down-open-button-while-in-ignition trick worked a treat. Thank you!

I didn't try the A pillar trick because the above worked. But noted for next time

Thanks guys
