Spoke to these people last night about the sale of my Boxster S,and I can honestly say the guy was very honest about my car and the best way for me to sell it privately. This struck me as refreshing and a good thing to post!

Isn't that just a way of a garage saying "I dont want to touch it"?

No offence there mate, i've just heard that's what garages do to get out of trade in's they really dont want, on the flip side, Harry does always remind us how he only ever accepts the best stock, so if I was in your shoes, I might be somewhat offended by that

Well Henry (Harry??) is fairly active on these forums, maybe he could add his opinion, 2 sides to each story etc...

Such as I will offer you £? but if you want £??? sell it privately.

Maybe........

....that is often traderspeak for "you expect me to offer private money for your car?....you're 'aving a laff"....often this is followed by the line "...and if you aren't successful, come back to me and we'll see what we can do"...which is traderspeak for "I'll pull your pants down on it if you do come back".

....but at least thet's a polite way of telling you that you are expecting far too much money for your car.

Some traders might also slot in "try selling it privately sir, but if unsuccessful, don't forget we are able to offer you Sale or Return facilities".

Perish the thought, but some traders might also then SOR that car at OTT money and then, when it fails to sell, offer, out of the goodness of their heart, to purchase the car from the vendor at a price substantially lower than the SOR price. They might then retail the car at higher money....

Note - I am not suggesting that Henry indulges in these practices. From what I can see, he generally owns all his stock.

He did not say he did not want it.He said they would retail it for about £15,000 and offer £12,000 to me.My car is poverty spec in zenith blue ,80000 miles and history with Stratstones and Ninemeister.Although his offer was low it seemed honest enough and he seemed a nice bloke, mine is in great nick and I would rather sell it more locally but an offers an offer at the end of the day.

Had a similar chat with them yesterday myself. Straight up guys in my opinion - no crap about oooh I might have to change the clutch in 2008 so will factor that in. You can't please the punters all the time but Henry and Tom do a good job of maintaining the middle ground. Would get my business.

Bid 12 retail 15, but is that 15 his bug price? where all he has to do is park it. if it is his full retail price I would be driving up there now
