Hello

Friend of a friend looking for an early 996 has asked me what I think of the following for sale at Paddocks Garage. Anyone got any experience of using them? Also any thoughts on the car. I didn't think PSM was available on the early 996.

don't have any experience of this garage, but I would be vary wary of buying a Porsche from a non-Porsche specialist unless I knew what I was doing.

It'll be TC not PSM.

OK so was TC available standard / as an option?

Is this the basic form of simply stop the wheels spinning TC?

Yep, TC was an option on a Carrera 2 on the earlier models.

ETA: Yep, basically stopped the wheels spinning. One thing the 996 excels at is traction.

And hence 'my' problem. The guy knows nothing about Porsches so the intermediary friend has put us in touch. Now I find myself thinking what do I say to a guy who wants a 911 for not a lot of money and knows nothing about them.

My sensible head is saying NO but my PHead is saying DO IT.

If the dealer agrees to it being checked at the local OPC , and you can check that it has a full service history , then I reckon you whould be fine .. It's one step up from a private sale , so stick it on an OPC warranty for the year .
