Of course.

But maybe in Germany, or on a private race track, or, ummm - you know what I mean!

What about the bog-standard, basic carrera, I had mine up to 140 ish on a private runway and it felt good, I am just wondering how they feel closer to vmax - stability and so on?

A modest but sustained 150mph on the Autobahns over Easter in my Y2k C2. I noted at this speed I was making corrections constantly with the feedback, the nose felt lighter, had slight vibration through the controls at certain points in acceleration. Overall felt solid, though felt it was working hard.

03 3.6 Carrera 2 - 178mph on 'Foreign' Motorway heading to a famous race weekend. Car very stable and ran all the better for it.

Problem with speeds over 170 is the stone chips to PU and the windscrean always looks sandblasted

Good ro see plenty of people using these cars the way they were intended. I always get a bit twitchy about a blow out at anything above 120, obviously I am a big girl

I am aiming to beat that on my first Ring trip in the 996TT in June

I won't be happy unless I see at least 190mph on the speedo. I guess even a 200mph should be possible since after the 10% correction this would only be 180mph.

Had a speedo indicated 172mph in my Box S.

187 in the tt,it still felt quite good and was pulling quite hard..i had slight concerns about its stopping ability at that speed however..had to do it to see off an M5 that seemed to have cruised past its so-called 155 limit quite easily.thumbup

Hmm, indicated 187mph, but I was hitting the limiter in 5th in my 928GT, running 18" wheels so I guess around 180-183mph... 290km/h + ...

On the way back from LeMans I was in the Boxster S, roof down, around 120mph. A 360CS went past like I was standing still, so I thought I'd try & catch up (not going to happen). However, at about 150mph the wind deflector popped out & tw@ted me on the back of the head.

At that point I slowed down.

172 is some going. Must have been a big'ol straight.
