Is an inspection worth while
Discussion
Thers's a guy called Peter Morgan who did mine for me. Think he goes under PM Consulting, so just google him, I think he covers West London, so might stretch to Watford.
The report I got was amazing in terms of the detail of the body work, trim, tyres, electrics working etc. Far more time and effort than you'd probably put in yourself, which is useful information for bargaining (i.e. this switch doesn't work, or this panel has been re-painted etc). My report paid for itself in money I knocked off.
What it's impossible to get, and I guess I was naive on this, was how little comment can be made on the engine, other than FSH, obvious oil leaks, coolant level, oil pressure etc, which you can do yourself.
Sounds daft now, I don't know why I thought any inpsector would be a mind reader and 'see' inside the motor.
Which then opens up the warranty debate, so I won't go there.

Most definitely worth having a prospective purchase inspected. Otherwise it's a bit like buying a house without a survey.
I used Peter Morgan also. However, there are several other reputable people / oganistaions that provid ethis service. I'm sure the first hand recommendations will follow.

For a mobile service, Peter Morgan are excellent and cover a wide area and as well as finding things, will be able to tell you how usual these are, whther they need immediate attention or not, and likely cost of rectification - none of which you are likely to get with the RAC or the AA (whose service is contracted out now BTW).
Otherwise, if possible, get it taken to a good independent, which should cost less (probably an hour or two's labour) rather than PM's £325 (inc HPi check).

If you're able to check the coolant on a 993, you're doing a more thorough job than anyone!!

JZ Machtech should be able to help. They're in Kings Langley - about 5 miles from Watford. They've got an excellent reputation.
