Last year I took a new M6 to the Ring for a week, and of course got the thing peppered with stone chips. I am doing the same thing with an RS in September and was thinking about some kind of clear bra, but not sure whether its worth it or not..any thoughts??

I have a 3M clear bra on my car. Well worth it and comes with lifetime warranty.
There is a visible line across the bonnet mainly but only noticeable up close.
Some say it can go a yellowish colour over time but I haven't seen any that have and my car is yellow

How much was it and where did you get it done?

It was already on the car when I got it, but I'm about to put a GT2 nose on the car and going to get it done again.

I'm now based in the US and getting mine from Here

Here's the front of my car with the bra. Front bumper, bonnet (about first 18" ), front wings and mirrors. you can't see it at all unless you're next to it.

One of the well known proprietary brands is Amourfend (.com). I've only ever had to buy a couple of bits to replaced scuffed ones on a Chimaera - they were very helpful and emailed diagrams so I could order the right bits (for me to fit). I also enquired with them for a friend's Lotus Elise 111R - they did different "packs", the most comprehensive covering leading edges of the rear arches, the sills etc and it was £700+ fitted but a small front set should be half that.

Beware buying Kits on the internet unsless you are very skilled with this stuff YOU WILL not be able to get this to work, most responsible vendors have stopped selling these things for self install. I would recommend in The US you find a decent installer and get it done by them to get it right. Also dont think of trying to buy an internet kit, THEN getting a regular installer, to fit it for you MOST quality installers are wise to this now and charge you the same whether they supply the kit or you do

Cheers

Tom

I agree from a full kit point of view. The example I gave was a car already with everything done that had scuffs to two small pieces. What's useful about Armourfend emailing diagrams is that you can see all the different components that they make for your car, and see what pacakges of these they do before deciding whathow much to get done, but definitely better to get them to fit it for you.
