Boxster is No1 again
Discussion
That is what it is all about,,,,spend £XXX on suspension + superchrager++++ etc....That goes on the car..spend the money on yourself for driver education and you take the knowledge & experience with you from car to car....Even if you were driving a 996TT would you have gone any quicker than Tiff?.If so I very much doubt you would have had so much fun!
And of course, Mr Needell, was NOT going quickly he was putting on a show. And very fine it was too.
And the point they were making was the Boxster manages to be a Jack of All Trades as well as Master of *Some*!
You can't beat that as a package. Track Day fun and day to day practicality. Long may it continue!

Despite Domster's infinite knowledge of left hooking ringers from Manheim (

He must have unique access to the most gullible south coast octaganrian widows, whose late spouses possessed a penchant for pampering lovely low mileage exotica, only for the same good lady inheritors to be assailed by the dubious charms of the oily conster himself and part with their motoring legacies at a fraction of their real worth.
This view was bourne out several times over the years, most emphatically when I sought the alleged uber bargain of the day some years ago, the definitive GT itself, Porsche's gutsy 928S2.
Quentin reckoned his pukka mid-80s model was a snip at £6k so obviously, having mugged a few somewhat shaky pensioners, I sought out this veritable automotive Lager of Lamot.
Naturally, everything - and I do mean everything - even vaguely near this price point, was akin in condition to a three legged dog which had just lost an argument with an extremely long oil tanker.
In the end, you pretty much get what you pay for.
Having said that, I do love the way Quentin talks; he's a proper artist and the way he sort of sneers with that supercillious semi-smirk - I'd love to lamp the bugger with a tremendous right hook. Excellent!
Great car, right result, now all you lucky owners leave desk, put roof down, quick blast, back to desk....batteries recharged !! With regards to the £18k Boxter, these TV progs. always get carried away, it probably had 110k on the clock, always best to spend a little more & get the best you can afford. Uh Oh it's that slippery Porker owners slope again, start off looking at a 924 end up with a GT2 !!!!

Nothing wrong with that of course, does its job well.
Cheese. Not particularly interesting food though is it really. Nothing wrong with that of course, fills you up well.
Yes yes yes. Lots of people test drive the Boxster and it does nothing for them - they're looking for something else in the car. Exclusivity maybe - Buy a Marcos. Noise and grunt - buy a TVR. Sublime handling - buy a Lotus.
The reason why it won is because it does ALL these things well. A sublime compromise - where the compromise isn't even noticeable, save perhaps in the power arena.
Perhaps that doesn't make it "interesting" but it does make it pretty wonderful. I guess its the sports car people love to hate, as well, precisely because it IS so good.
Whether or not its the "best" is always going to be down to personal taste. What I thought was good about the show was there were so many to choose from. Good news for us sports car aficiandos..

Would disagree with this but not on this site![]()
Generally agree with your comments, the Boxster does a lot very good, possibly the reason for its success is that is suits those who do not look for the specialisations that many sportscar buyers look for.

As you guessed I was rather lampooning your statement.Actually...I like Cheese very much and find the almost infinite variety available very interesting indeed.

But if you want "interesting" food - go no further than sausages. A range of fine sausages is the TEST of any culture. Beware the countries that do not make sausages....there has to be something wrong.![]()
