The wife is giving me chew to buy her a Cayenne.......

After just getting a few offers of possible part ex deals I'd decided not to advertise it again and was about to pull the pistonheads advert. Then a genuine local buyer looking for a good un comes around and bids me close to what I was looking for for it.

I know how much most people on this forum dislike the Cayenne but...from anyone who has actually owned one, I'd appreciate some advice. I may be looking to buy at the early end (2003 or so) of the market(hopefully less depreciation..) Probably go for an S rather than a 3.2 but if anyone has experience of both appreciate any thoughts, what sort of MPG would you see on a 3.2, I was told that 20 isn't impossible with the 4.5? so is there really much of a MPG offset for accepting much less power?

That would leave me just about enough cash for an early E46 M3 as a toy.....maybe!

im not too sure on early build niggles but the early cayennes are stonking good value. Joel at RSJ has a good stock of them which all look mint and are in the right colours.

MPG on any of them is pretty bad i think and the 3.2 is a little gutless but the styling has certainly grown on me.

a friend had a turbo a year or so ago. that was simply mad. the speeds it was capable of just made me laugh. seriously good fun.

good luck in your search

With regards to the smoking, have you factored in time for coughing and perhaps a dry boke? I'd allow a good couple of minutes for that

And in keeping with your original question - I had a base Cayenne as a courtesy car and it was real slow - not even just compared to a 911. The slush box didn't help matters. Apparently the S is a bit more up for it.

Had both a Cayenne and Cayenne S as courtesy cars. The Cayenne is an utter gutless wonder. Def only get the 'S' if you're ever going to drive it, cos she won't care either way
