Just had my new (to me) Mk2 GT3 back from Parr, who did a Stage 1 Geo sep up and corner weighting, as recommended to me by some of you. I am absolutely amazed at the difference this has made to the car - it is totally transformed. The supension clearly works much better now, much of the previous harschness on bumpy roads is gone, turn in is better, steering is meatier and more positive, stability is improved, I could go on forever. Simply transformed!

So anyone who is new to these cars (as I am) - this is money well spent, and improves the drivability of the car significantly. Its not just a marginal difference - it totally changes (for the better) the feel of the car.

The downside is it has lowered the front of the car significantly from the previous set up (which was probably as from the factory), so my new splitter is on borrowed time....

Welcome to the club, splitters are a concumable porsch apart, do motorsport ones for half the price of the original and they are a direct replacement.

I got my splitter from Parr - it cost about half that from Porsche (which does 2 different ones - one which wraps around whe whole front PU (all 16 holes), one which is smaller and effectively adds a front lip to the PU (uses only 8 of the 16 fitting holes)). Parr calls theirs a Motorsport splitter - it is similar to the Porsche one, but sits a little deeper. Make sure you order the fitting kit as well - the part comes without the screws.

Can I be cheeky and ask what one is likely to pay for such a setup as you describe?

Thanks.

www.porsch-apart.co.uk/ sell the splitters. A bag of the plasticscrews are a good spare to carry £5 investment(from OPC) and with a bag of cable ties you are ready for any eventuality.

Mjolner how long did it take you to feel the difference in handling? , I phoned Roger to thank him after 2 round abouts!
Out of interest did Parr roll your front arches?

Hi Lightweight. I thought the car felt better the moment I turned out of the Parr car park - particularly the steering felt meatier, and it rode much better. At the first roundabout I braced myself for the usual bouncing of the car and compresseion of the spine, and was stunned that the suspension actually worked, the front end went where it was supposed to, and my spine was intact. Also, the steering gave some feel (it used to be very light, but that may have been because the front felt like it was always skipping). Onto dual carriage way, nailed it, the back squatted down and the car rode as intended, rather than do its usual skipping. Hard on the brakes for the next roundabout, and surpise surprise, the car tracked straight, rather than try to redirect me into the scenery as it used to.

To answer your question, the difference was immediately obvious. It may also be of course, that my car was poor to start with. Other than a brief test drive of a few cars when I bought this one, I had nothing to compare to, so I can only comment on before and after on my car.

No, they did not roll the arches - there is now some contact between wheel and something in the wheelarch or liner when a lot of lock is put on, but so far it only appears to occur during parking manouvres.

I ask because I had mine on a ramp on saturday and noticed that Parr had rolled the arches to cope with the new camber they also seem to have added a milled aluminum spacer to the inside of the lower front wishbone looks well made(better finish than the wishbone)
Like you I rate the parr setup I actualy find that although lower it rides better over speed bumps than before and on track turn in feels great i just need to learn to drive better;-)

Parr did say that they use a variety of shims (sp?) for the job. I am a total moron as far as the technicals of all this goes - I just know the car feels better. In fact I am a dream customer for all these outfits - I give a vague description of what I want, have no idea what it really entails, then almost pass out when I get handed the bill, and have no real way of knowing what has actually been done....Parr was recommended, and judging by the results so far I can only concurr with those recommendations.

I recall them saying that they only roll the arches for the Stage 2, which is apparently much lower again (not sure how that is possible for the front, but maybe with much more camber). On the GT3 the top part of the front arches are flattened from standard (unlike the non GT3), which maybe what you can see on your car. I also suspect that if I had a squarer side wall (I run Pirelli's) the arches may have to be rolled or the car raised slightly.

This sounds exactly what I'm after, picked up my '3 last weekend and was wondering which of the setups was best. Couple of questions, does the work affect the OPC warranty in any way? Also is the ride height reduction a necessary part of the process, I already scrape the splitter going into my car park and living in London need all the clearance I can get!

I think you need to ask your dealer service manager Mine has an OPC warentee and they have never questioned mods ie Fabspeed/Tubi exhausts etc...Warentee work done as expected when services caried out
The Parr stage 1 set up essentualy just uses the adjustable nature of the GT3 suspention with out replacing anything just making it work properly Roger at parr may be your best man to ask tell him bo recomended him and he may charge you more;-)

Spoke to Parr, apparently has no impact on the OPC warranty as it doesn't effect any of the warranted parts. Also going to be able to do a 2/3 Stage which won't include the lowering (seeing as Ken *********** wants s*dding speed bumps on every road in London these days).

The '3 is booked in on Tuesday, can't wait!

My splitter only lasted a couple of weeks in Barcelona due to the steep car park ramps - I left it off and really cannot tell the difference at any speed or type of road.

I have also just got a new to me GT3, last monday!

Midnight blue clubsport and I'm sure it needs a geo too, I'm near Silverstone, so Fearnsport seem to have a good reputation, how much do they charge if you dont mind me asking, can you PM me please.

Thanks,
Ian.
