I was the same. Hummed and aahed about it.
Having tken the plunge I'M so glad I did.
You'll find that with the weather like it is at the moment you'll be driving round most of the time with the windows down just to hear the exhaust.
AS everyone else will tell you who's got PSE, you've just got to do the mod to stop it cutting out between 30 and 45 !

Had mine for three weeks and love it - drive everywhere with the window/sunroof open and the stereo off.

Make sure you get the annyoing drive by cut-off switch sorted.

Every 996 should have PSE - it transforms the quality and character of the car. Should be standard fit.

What is the mod to keep the exhaust open between 30 & 45?

My 997 PSE does the same annoying thing.

Sorry for the delay in posting!

I am impressed so far but I havent been out all that much in it so I will need to a little more time to make a full report!

The only thing I am finding a little odd is that I have had 2 V8 cars before this one and the engine burbled on tick over and the noise felt direct as soon as you excelerated. With this is I am very concious that it is the exhaust that is making the nice noise as there is a little delay and no noise until I excelerate. Not sure if I am talking crap here or if anyone knows what I mean but just feels a little weird at the moment.

Just different and is taking a little getting used to. I will say that it definately sounds better than it did so am chuffed so far!

Going out for a little blast in a bit so will post back later!

The PSE takes a while to "burn through" and gets louder after the first 100miles or so.

When I got my car back the guy from OPC said to cane it at higher revs for a while and then you'll see a big difference.

Thought an OPC wouldn't do this for whatever reason ?

Well having played with it for a while and given it a chance to calm itself down a little I must say that I am VERY impressed!!

The more I drive it the better it sounds and it was totally true what has been said about the 'burn through' period. Even smelt badly of burning plastic for a day or so!

Anyone thinking about getting one I would say most definately DO IT, completely transforms the whole 996 experience!!

Anyone near Swindon wishing to have a listen before buying just give me a shout!
