It isn't overrated , but it does depend on what you are looking for in a car.
A carrera 2.7RS won't be the quickest car around a track by modern standards but out on the road the total experience of the feedback, handling and the wonderful MFI motor makes it a wonderful car. My 2.4S gives the same & is only fractionally slower due to the lower low down torque.
I have driven plenty of 911's from Kremer modified 930's through to 996 GT3 cup cars & I have still yet to drive a car that gives me the thrill, pleasure & enjoyment that a 2.4S / RS gives on a twisty country road.
