996 turbo vs 997 turbo
Discussion
Depends
From a Porsche owners point of view, the curves are still similar, different mouldings and lights and we could tell if it was a 997
Ask joe public and I bet a more than average response would be "they look the exact same"
We know the 996 is a great car, If it ain't broken and all that.....!

If you ask me it is like asking what Supermodel you prefer...
Both cars are awesome and look great. I accept the comments about the wheels on the 997tt, I quite like them myself.
I have owned a 996tt X50 so I would prefer the 997tt if I were to buy again. The interior is far nicer in my opinion and the car does not have the lag issue that the 996 X50 has.
Details really as both cars are superb.

i used to think that the turbos (996) looked better than the gt3s but with the 997 i think that the gt3 looks much better.
At the 2006 Geneva launches, the Porsche stand had two big displays, one for the new 997TT and one for the 997GT3. Side by side everyone I spoke with agreed that, in terms of looks, the GT3 completely overshadowed the TT.
I think the 997TT lacks any insired design advances over the 996TT. It is mostly fussy detailing of the vents, wheels, lights.
