Just saw Kelvin Burts accident on the BTCC coverage of Thruxton today . The car went right over the top of the safety rail very nearly taking the camera with it .Hoping he is ok and fit. The car looked a write off but it looked like the roll cage did its job.

Wasn't it Kelvin Burt who went over the fence at Oulton Park in a BTCC Volvo a few years back?

Glad he appears to be OK.

Fingers crossed for him - a genuinely nice bloke, and very quick too.

I was at Thruxton today & the whole accident happened right in front of where we were sitting at the Complex. Absolutely massive accident, with the car somersaulting over the tyre barriers & ending up on the service track on the other side of the fencing. Fortunately, Kelvin Burt got out after about 30 seconds, apparently un-harmed.

Just saw the footage on tv. Amazing he walked away!

What caused it to flip?

Someone clipped his right hand rear quarter as he turned right and they tried to get inside him. You`d have thought he`d have just lost the back end and either caught it or spun out. I wonder if the rear of the other car`s front wheel made contact with the front of Kelvin`s rear wheel causing it to "climb" over the other car`s wheel. It certainly didn`t look typical of a GT accident, more like a light prototype or open wheel car.

Either way the car looked to have stood up very well indeed. Thank god there weren`t any spectators standing in the landing zone. Kelvin looked to be in one piece. Definately one for the CV!

He got me started on my first ever track day many years ago, after a spin at Paddock Hill I was struggling to get on the pace. He sat in with me, watched the mirrors and pointed me in the right direction.

We were spectating around the complex area when it happened. Looked up from binocs to see the car literally tumbling through the air and over the top of the safety fence.

I am very relieved to hear the driver got out OK. It looked absolutely horrendous.

Haven't seen one that nasty (end over end) since Troy Dunlop in the Tuscans (Silverstone I think).

"Motorsport can be dangerous" yes

Here's the clip of his thruxton escapade - note the 2 oblivious people walking down the lane as the car nearly lands on them, blissfully relaxed !

That is amazing! Both the crash and that he's fine.

Is it a special cup GT3, as in factory mods?
