Got myself on of these units, looks easy enough to install. Can you retain the ce changer or does it have to go?

Car is Boxster S with PCM2,Bose upgrade and Sat Nav.

looks like i just remove the CDC and plug the denison in its place, but having had a read on the web people talk about inserting the denison unit just before the CDC. (porsche related sites)

any info appreciated cheers

Depends which version you have

one needs yu to disconnect the cd changer (and you IPod replaces it) and one allows you to switch between the two

its the 500 MOST (i seem to remember two versions when i ordered it) the MOST one being the more upto date and able to work with PCM. in the book it only seems to indicate thet the CDC is removed and replaced with the IPOD (BMW MERC seem to be able to retain the CDC)

I should be able to confirm after Thursday...

Had one fitted a couple of weeks ago and fitter was unable to retain changer function. Following email exchange with Dension I have been advised of an alternative fitting setup which the fitter will retry on Thursday - fingers crossed.

It's an easy install if you don't want to keep the changer. I took it out and mounted the Dension and iPod where the changer was. The fiber optic connections are then used for the Dension. Surprisingly easy, once I had everything out of the car and mounted properly, it was like a 30min job. I'll post pics when I get a chance. One thing to be careful with is to make sure to mount the iPod far far away from the Dension unit. It gets super hot, and fried my iPod. The iPod overheated and I had to take it apart and manually disconnect the battery before it worked again.

cheers peeps.

Will hang fire and fit it over the weekend and see if the CD changer can be retained.

Has everbody fitted the denison in the front and will it reach the glovebox from there? hmm me thinks it maybe worth a trip to the local computer shop for a 12v fan and feed it from a switched 12 feed if it gets that hot.

Just one more thing did anyone else get a shoddy satnav install?? the GPS antena was wedged under the cabin air filter(not stuck down) and the rest of the gear was flopping around nearby confused
