Hi
I went to Dove House when I was on the hunt for a turbo
I had a look at the aerokit turbo they have in stock.
It seems a well run business and the cars are prepped OK although the sales are backed up by poor warranties and the car i looked at, whist OK felt a little tatty for the money being asked. Usual thing really, stone chips etc.
Salesman was a nice guy and i understand the business is owned by a city trader who founded the business to endulge his passion of high performance cars.
Ive certainly heard nowt bad about them and if the right car came up i wouldnt have any problem using them provided it was backed up by a porsche warranty.

Got close to buying a car off them - but in the end found more for less a bit more local. Over numerous phonecalls they were helpful and courteous - and gave me a good finance house lead who have subsequently financed a couple of cars for me (including private purchases). They take part in a couple of midlands hoons as well so there's a few petrolheads in their organisation at least (which I guess is a good thing but may be wrong!).
Just remembered I started a topic on it, here it is:

Dove House is our business, so to exercise a right of reply...
Reference stonechips/prep etc: If there is a car at Dove House with material stonechipping that has not been addressed it has either not yet been to the paintshop or belongs to a customer who has given us the car on sale or return. We can't perform that level of prep work on cars that do not belong to us prior to sale in case the owner reclaims the car, but will of course ensure that any car that leaves us is up to our own standards at the point of delivery.
Reference quality of the warranty: The warranty is a market leading insurance backed product similar to that used by a number of manufacturers for preowned vehicles. We also sell a lot of vehicles and arrange for Porsche inspection and main dealer warranties at the customers choice (although clearly there is an extra cost involved).
So if you want a car with a main dealer warranty you dont have to go to a main dealer, we are perfectly happy to go that route with any of our eligible Porsche stock. We are not in the business of trying to sell people one car, we want our clients to be happy enough to come back again and again. Broadly speaking that approach seems to be working well.

I bought a 986S from Dove House a couple of years ago. I was very happy with the experience. They were prepared to 'do a deal', carried out their side of the transaction perfectly and even went out of their way a little trying to get the car taxed a couple of days earlier than might otherwise be possible.
When I first saw the car it had just arrived in stock and wasn't exactly in pristine condition but when I picked up the nose cone had been resprayed, it had new tyres and had been valeted to a very high standard. It was pretty much perfect.
I've no idea what their business model is now but 2 years ago they seemed to be an 'outlet' for City folk to offload their automotive exotica on a sale or return basis.

i dont argue that the warranty supplied is any different to anythign else an independant dealer would supply, i have just found from experience that the cover is poor and specifically excludes the variety of items you would need a porsche covering warranty to honour such as rear main seal replacement.
also the 5k claim limit, again is standard thoughout the industry although it doesnt protect you against an engine explosion
having said that, when discussing the meridan silver tt you had in stock, the salesman was willing to drop the price by £500 if i chose to go down the OPC warranty route.
as for the prvious posters comments about stone chips, there is always something to be said for seeing an unmolested car and make arrangements to have the front painted as part of the sale.
loved the showroom btw and seeing the car pull out of the garage before the test drive did make me go weak at the knees.
in the end, the car wasnt for me although it was a very nice spec

Thanks for the replys guys.
Leeme3. I had a look at your previous post and nobody seems to have a bad word to say about DH which is nice.
beesma. When I get time I will give you a call and come and have a look round. It's a bit of a run from Cambridge so I will make sure there is someone about before I set off.
I like the idea of an OPC warranty as I have never felt reassured by pure insurance warranties in the past (though from all accounts an OPC warranty is no guarantee). The bas***ds are always trying not to keep their end of the deal when you have a problem IMO.
