OPC vs Independent

Just wondering what the labour rate is for an OPC versus a good independent specialist? From what I can gather, OPC is £100/hour?

JZM is £65 an hour and they are probably at the top end of the Indie price scale.
I think OPC is over £100 but someone is bound to know for sure.

So you save £400 having a specialist service your car at 48k.
And you lose £1000 off the value to the average punter.
However, a) you probably get a better job done ( I always prefer talking to the guy works on my cars and seeing what he's done, why and how) at a good specialist and b) that plucked from the air arbitrary figure is highly arguable.............
my local opc (colchester is about 105 per hour)
the car was sold with about six opc stamps in the service book at 55k
there is no doubt whatsoever, that a new buyer to the marque will be far more inclined towards a car with the full history rather than one with specialist stamps regardless of how good the specialist is

they also don't try and rob you like opc's with bs like discs need doing... if they rob you on silly items like that what else are they lying about?

Will never gp near one again myself after a few tries with the West London OPC. Last time they had my Turbo for a service, drove away, 5 mins later smoke billowing out the back. Took it back, desk based service bloke said 'nothing wrong just a bit of excess oil needs to burn off'. Got him to take it back in the workshop which he was reluctant to do telling me to drive it for a bit. 30 mins later car appears round the front again, without so much as an apology he states they left oil in the undertray and it needed to be hosed off.
Then there was the time they carried out the wiring loom change on my C2, managed to knacker the airbag control unit, agreed it was OK when I dropped it into them, then stated this was a coincidence that it just happened to go wrong whilst they had it and it was nothing to do with the work they were carrying out, and I would have to pay for a new one. Quick call to Porsche GB, and all of a sudden the OPC decided as a good will gesture they would change it for free. Gee, thanks.
Would put far more trust in JZM, Northway etc, and be far happier with a S/H from them!

I'm with thegoose on this one ...
I have been using Northway & to be honest, I would never go to an OPC even for servicing. Northway are a) knowledgeable b) professional c) very flexible - they replaced a clutch for me in less than 18 hours from the old clutch "going" despite the car not being booked in for the work (I just called them when it happened & they bent over backwards to accomodate).
On top of this, they are considerably cheaper than OPC.
For these reasons, I will continue to use Northway for both my current Porsche and any subsequent. Yes, I may lose £1,000 on re-sale, but I will be driving a car that I know has been cared for by true enthusiasts of the Marque, not some spotty YTS kid....
I am sure that other Porsche Indy's are as good, but I have no experience of them
