Discussion

I can comment on this one.......
The X50 is standard as it left the factory (450bhp) and this is the first time the driver has driven along the road.
The RS4 is modded to 550bhp and the driver lives locally (also distinctive local plates). The X50 driver recognising the car as owned by a local, eased off to allow the Audi past so that he could follow the locals lines. Having had a front end respray in August the X50 driver was minded to follow from a safe distance.
The RS4 was bloody fast!

The vid was filmed last saturday on the Mountain section of the TT course (X50 driver not aware of filming at the time).

Would this be the same custom built RS4 conversion that knackered its clutch at the last VMax (very distinctive plate).
Nice driving...!

The car belongs to:
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?h=0&memberId=44612&t=314544
He had a very trick camera/datalogger combination that he ran in the car at the last VMax - checked the Vmax results and he posted 174mph but apparently did have some limiter and clutch problems.

Oh lol, he's the character from the noble forum who setup websites trying to bring the company down when his car was built as only british cars are.
Some of the right handers looked very dubious but could just be the height of the camera making them look unsighted. Must scare the crap out of oncoming traffic to have a closing speed of 190+ at points!

The Audi is definitively driven very well and hell of a fast machine. You could see that he was very familiar with the road - in stark contrast to the TT driver.
Although I can't deny my German roots when looking at my need for speed, I find what the Audi driver was doing here pretty dangerous given the amount of oncoming traffic. He'd be completely unable to react to a safely overtaking car coming from the opposite direction. And that could have been me...

Interestingly, there are no maximum speed limits on the Isle of Man's derestricted roads, so no offence was being committed.
It is possible to drive that road, at those sorts of speeds, quite safely, providing the driver is responsible and has the utmost consideration for other road users. But two cars 'racing' on the public road (even part of the TT circuit) would be stupidity.
I know the road well, and the Audi seemed to be driven sensibly and the Porsche driver kept his distance. The bike racers get close to 200mph over some of those sections.
