I've seen a 996 GT2 for sale from a friend just wondering whether the GT2's value will stay stronger than say a GT3.
The car is a black/black on a 52reg and goes like stink.
This is a very difficult question but when you consider there's probably a 100 or so cars left in the UK values shouldn't really fall below say 50k (for a decent car) - I hope.
Even with the introduction of the 997 GT2 - it'll probably have more electronic safety features therefore won't be as raw as say 996 GT2 and most probably will sell more. The 997 GT2 looks fantastic but from the front end it looks too much like the TT - no doubt faster though.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

If you want one to compare it too the silver one at www.911sport.co.uk is car I know and is very straight (no, I didn't own it!).
At the end of the day one day the value will fall below your figure, it's just a question of how long it will take. But, it is a fantastic piece of machinery and if you have the chance to own one for a while I'd say go for it!

Rav,
You keep on capitulating between a GT2 and GT3. You need to make your mind up mate by driving both. They are very different cars.
Also, I wouldn't worry about residuals on either car at this point as they will both depreciate very very slowly at this point (if any at all, and depending on what price you buy at).
If you like motorway blasts, and want max boosted acceleration, then I would go for the GT2. It's probably a better ROAD car than the GT3 - especially for touring etc. Just ask Timmo who has both a GT3 and GT2.
If you want to track the car every so often and prefer driving a lighter weight/scalpel sharp and precision balanced machine with N/A power delivery, then go for the GT3.
Keep in mind that both these cars will feel slow and will never generate the same accelerative buzz compared to your R1...
Cheers

Rav,
I had a GT3 RS set up for the road only and I thought it was
good although on the track you would need to go for a more aggresive set up
The GT2 I have bought has had a Parr set up with extra power and the thing is silly quick
In Germany the few quick bikes I came across got a huge shock
and gave up after a few miles !
The things are Incredible
but ... my GT3 RS is a better handling and enjoyable track car
Im lucky ... I have the perfect track and road car now
took a long time/money to get there - but Im not hankering after another car
well maybe a Carrera GT which is in a different class altogether
As regards value - GT2 when new £129 K
996 GT3 RS when new £90K with ceramics - £85K without
Please bear in mind you cant just jump in a GT2 and go quick , the things are lethal in the wet even more so than a GT3
Theres a 440 bhp Mark2 GT3 for sale at Manthey Motors Germany for sale
I saw the thing last week - its LHD but I think that would be a good track/road car as its set up for the Nurburgring

Thanks Ade, I have decided to go for the GT2 I saw but wanted opinions on future values..
intereseting.. re values
As I have a GT2, would be easy for me to big it up. But I have had 2 996 RS, so can prob give a reasonable view.
If I had 110k would prob have a 997RS, but would be getting into a slower car..(very marginally), you could prob map, the RS.. put full motorsport diff in it and change suspension, to make it faster.
The GT2 is far more tuneable, because you can make it handle, and you can really make it go. Think I have shown this over last few months or so.. hence people's appreciation.. hence values will firm (slightly).
Don't care anyway, as I will be keeping my car. Also I don't have 110k to float on an RS.

p.s. remind us what happened to your RSs? Less coverage on that than your apparent superiority on the ring against one the other day

Kurgen been talking tosh here too?
I'll up his medication.

What do Parr do to improve the handling? I've heard they change the rear arms for GT3R items...is that correct? If so what does that achieve - and what else do they change?
A friend bought a 996 GT2 brand new in 2002 after RS's and GT3's but felt it was ready to let go at any point, also had a feeling they wouldnt hold up on value (he wasnt wrong on that). He sold it back to the OPC just over list.
