And I'm still alive

Not exactly confident though, edgy isn't the word. Lovely feel though still -- reckon someone who knows what they're doing could nurse one about in the rain PDQ.

What a car.

Love it.

Yep, just had my first experience of my GT3 in the rain too, not as bad as I expected, just tread carefully, being used to bikes and Elise/Exige/S2000 probably helps too!

I think your GT2 was awaiting collection when I test drove my 3 at Bristol (Midnight Blue Clubsport), looked very nice.

Yes I had a little check out of that that GT3 when I was testing the GT2 (not with a buyer's eye, you understand) looked very nice too...

Fascinating that of all the new metal in their showroom one's eyes were drawn to a pair of yesteryear 996s don't you think? lol.

They do stand out to me, their purity against the other models. However my eyes were drawn to a white 997 GT3 in the compound as I left, but I have to admit the 996 GT3 does everything I need of it and more! (good to hear the 2 if driveable in everyday conditions too)

Depends how hard your pushing it and whether you have traction on or not , i'll expand on that a bit . I'v been down at dunsford this pm and it lashed down , the guy who was instructing decided that i would get a better idea of the abilities of the car and learn more if the traction was off!!!!!!

He took the wheel for a lap to get the feel of the car with and with out , and decided without would be better.

I was not convinced and did a lap with it on and managed to spin it anyway . so i gave it a go with out and spent the next 50 min learning how to drive the tt correctly , and yes it did go backwards a few times , well quite a few times, including one realy impressive one when the expert was showing me how to do it.

At the end of it i feel i realy have started to get the idea of what the car is capable of, trouble is all this talk of gt2's has got me thinking. Here we go again!!!!!

Keith - I'm a fanny in the rain. Just thought I'd serve a topspin into the dodgy-handling-rwd camp

Your day sounded fun. Do you recommend it?

Absolutly outstanding , not cheap , but when you consider you have one to one and the track to yourself , i don't think its too bad .

They fit the car with a camera , so i have a dvd of the events so to speak , only prob will be working out which way the film is running !!!!

When i stacked my Fireblade in donnington , it realy knocked my confidence , the next two trackdays i did after that were at Pembray both in the wet and i learnt a lot more from that .

In the wet it lets go earlier and you have the oportunity to learn the car control at reletavly lower speeds . well sort of !

I have to say i was flat out in the first four gears , and to be honest i could not see if i could get it into fifth flat out on that circut anyway , i did not hold back at all in the end , once id spun it a few times !!

I learn a hell of a lot today well recomeded

I will give you a call when the dvd turns up , you will have a good grin.

tee hee.

I still can't decide why there's no rear windscreen wiper on the back. On the one hand perhaps the designers didn't think any fool would ever go out in the rain but on the other hand if someone did, it'd be useful since it's quite likely you'll be needing to look through there to see where you're going.

'Cos it's extra weight just where you don't want/need it ...........

Try going quicker , the rear screen stays clear with the added benefit of leaving a f*cking huge roostertail behind the car that looks really rather impressive. thumbup

I had mine out at Bedford on friday in the pouring rain. It was my first track day just to get used to the cars limits and handling in a safe environment. I was utterly astonished how much grip it had in the wet. Completely planted and communicative. A stint with the instructor smartened up my technique and had me using a trailing throttle through to the apex and this nulified the initial understeer that i had been experiencing in some of the corners. During my last stint i purposely provoked the car and again i was amazed how much provokation it took to get it unsettled. Some nice power oversteer moments were had and felt great as the diff locked up and allowed it to be held....well apart from one spin in a slow 2nd gear corner where the torque and boost caught be out and i had a gentle 180degree pirouette.
