Rather annoyingly I have picked up a nail in an almost new Pirelli Corsa - if I get this repaired is the concensus that there is no need to sweat at sustained Autobahn speeds(circa 150mph), or do I need to write the tyre off for the sake of complete assurrance of saftey?

Also, can anyone recommend a fitter (mobile or otherwise) in or who will serve central london - I refuse to let those monkies at Kwik-fit loose on my newly refurbed alloy.

(NB had searched PH archives but didn't find the answers.. cheers)

Surely it's not worth the risk at that sort of speed for that sort of cost for a new tyre.....

Replace and then you'll have no doubts about the tyre.

It is absolutely fine to repair a puncture, HOWEVER it depends on the location, near the edge no

I've used Event Mobile tyres. Always been perfect and great price BUT I watch them like a hawk.

Absolutely agree. Lost count of the repairs I've had - apparently they comply with British Safety Standards.

If you have driven the car any distance when it was flat, would throw it away.

That is any sign of rubber crumble inside the tyre,

If its a simple nail job in the tread and it was never driven at very low pressure, sure a plug will do the job and not affect the tyres performance.

Thanks guys - very helpful.

Haven't driven on it at low pressure, location of nail isn't too close to outer wall, so will aim for a repair. Thanks for the recommendation of Complete Tyre Services paracetemol, will try them first as they are not too far from me, and will have Event Tyres as backup (thanks Vesuvius).

Will report back on the verdict and quality of service received. Cheers -

There is a speed limit of 156 mph allowed for punc repairs so please bear this in mind, also the tyre needs to be carefully look at by the fitter for any crease marks on the inside of the tyre around the sidewall for over heating plus the puncture cannot be more than 6mm in diameter plus the angle of the puncture has a big relavence..

Any probs give me a call

Steve, went to change Pirelli P Corsa's (done 1500 miles) for M cups and found large "bolt" in drivers rear in the first inside tread line. Had it repaired, put on spare rim & inflated, not back on car. I have checked it over the last few weeks and it is loosing pressure but very, very little BUT, as I said, not on the car. Can this actually be repaired safely again or is it a bin job? Thanks, your advice would be appreciated.
