Chopped my 997 for a 987 on Friday for various reasons including price, want a convertible for the summer etc...

Thought you guys may be interested in my thoughts:

1. Pace - ok, it's def not as quick as the 911 but it is still rapid (it's got the 3.4 Cayman S 295 bhp engine)

2. Noise - glorious! different to the 911 - not as gruff and deep but there is a lovely howl, especially with the PSE i've had fitted.

3. Handling, I'm not an expert but it is easier to drive and does seem 'safer'. ie better balanced (or maybe just differently balanced?)

4. Road/Hood noise - no different except a little bit of wind noise by my right ear

5. Roof - so nice having the ability to get the roof down and just awesome to have he ability to do it up to 30mph - incredibly useful!

6. Space - sorry to go all 'What Car?' on you but pretty practical although obviously snugger in the cabin, but useful front and rear boots...

7. Extras - not quite as well specced as my 997 but has Bose which is incredible, roof up or down, much better than the standard set up in the 997. Also has the same sat nav etc which i still think is excellent.

So - do i prefer it? Bit early to tell but Summer's (hopefully) on the way so we will see!

Is the PSE a factory fit option now on the 987?

What have you come from / got interms of PASM & wheel sizes? Have read some comments that PASM works better on the 987 than the 997.

Gone from 19s to 19s but from PASM to non-PASM so cannot really comment except to say that the car seems a bit softer than the 997 but am sure this will be due to a slightly softer suspension set-up...
