Hi,

Does anyone know what the criteria are regarding when the non-fixed rear spoiler is engaged and disengaged?

I know at 75mph it is engaged, but it seems to stay extended for a long period afterwards even when you maintain a sub 75mph speed.

Not really important - just curious, especially since its an advert to plod when you hit minor roads, that you've just been breaking the law!

On a 997 the spoiler raises at 75mph but only retracts once back down below 50mph.

There's a manual button to raise/lower the spoiler in a 997 so you can look like you're doing 75mph to your local chippy - but more importantly in case plod try and use it as 'evidence'

a fair greater crime than speeding, drivers who artificially raise their spoiler whilst driving slowly are in the same bracket as GT3 badged C2s IMHO

The spoiler will go back down around 37mph on the 996

Simlarly to the 997 there is a manual way to work this and the buttons located down by the gas pedel.

You can not put the spoiler down if above 75mph.

On a 997 the button is located on the lower dash near the gear stick.

In two years I've never pressed it..!

It's not there to be pressed but as a CMA in case the police would want to use it as evidence for speeding...

boxedin on the Boxster it is in the driver's side footwell with the fuses. I have used it when applying "Speed Matters" sticker and every time I do a proper wash and wax (kind of had to wash when retracted)
