I'm looking to get my first Porsche, weekend runabout, just wondered if anyone has had any good experiences of Yorkshire are Porsche dealers. (the conditions only made a point about naming and shaming bad dealers, so figured this should be ok !). Ideas so far 20-25k, 993 or boxster. Any tips to look out for would be appreciated !!

Don't buy from an official dealer unless they give you a big discount on the sticker price (15%) - www.strasse.co.uk are in leeds and seem like a good honest bunch with a nice selection of cars.

996 are really cheap now

I bought my 993 from a specialist dealer called RPR 626 in County Durham. Can recommend him. Visit www.rpr626.com for stock list.

Catchy name...

I wonder if it's named after the number plate of the first car he sold?

After a good search in 2001 I got my 993 Carrera S from OPC JCT600 in Leeds. Paid no more than elsewhere (but still a lot) for 12K miles known history car, full warranty, new Asimmetricos and 24K service. Gave me no less than elsewhere for the Z3M Roadster - so pretty fair all round. Bottle of bubbly on delivery, £50 parts voucher on the anniversary - I dealt with Brian McLean - seemed pretty straight considering his occupation!

Cheers, Maurice

Strasse (Leeds) were nice to chat to, also the guys at AutoClassia (near Knaresborough) were good as they lent me some books to look at. I've had a mixed response from JCT600 (Leeds). On one visit they were friendly, but on another visit they deliberately ignored me. I think I would only buy from them if I got a very good deal on the car.

Autoclassica seem to have some good cars to be honest they seem to be rivalling Specialist cars of malton to see who can take the biggest liberties when putting pricing on their stock.

I am down sarf, but last year I spoke to Strasse a few times about a car I wanted to check out over a bank holiday weekend, they were so helpful and enthusiastic.
In the end the seller never kept the appointment and when i aplologised to strasse for unintentionaly wasting their time, they were fine.I would defimitely check these guys out if I was up North.their cars are fairly priced and often the cars they have for sale are PX from previous customers..always a good sign.

Incidently the nearest OPC dealer at that time was happy to check the car out for me and wanted to book an appointment 6 weeks in the future....I did laugh! I put it down to the difference between Northern& Southern humour!
