Ridiculous.

Same price as a 996 GT3.

King Canute springs to mind.

Its because the 993 represents the end of a very special rare marque with low depreciation and a very love it or hate it following..the 996 represents the start of a virtually different mass produced product and a company that now targets profitability above all else and a much wider target audience. All imo of course.

.. And so , by default , you're suggesting it's worth that money...

Could of brought a 996 c4s or TT but the C2s is in a desirability league all on its own. These are Classic status cars.. in a way the 996 or 997 could never be.

best looking 911 ever made.. too right!!

nuts
Its worth what someone will pay for it and if there was large choice available they wouldnt be worth that, its simple supply and demand.

You have to drive one of those to understand...

It is a very very special car.

How many 993 4s/2s have you got left in the country? maybe 300...

A pal of mine bought a '98 silver C4S with very low mileage , absolutely stunning condition car for just over £40k , two years ago.

Trying to big up a car is one thing ... Telling us they're appreciating is just plain daft.

yep noticed that one too - cant see how you justify that kind of price - getting on for 15K more than a narrow-body car eek

(and Im in the minority who actually prefer the narrow-body shape ...)

That might be true Kayc,

However, the point is that this particular car is overpriced in the context of what it is.

It may be a perfect, low mileage example in a desirable spec, but it is way over the odds. There is no doubt he might find a buyer with a 993C2s fetish. Howeever, the car represents pretty poor value for money when you can get a decent 993 turbo for a few K more. Not to mention a very nice 996 C4S or 996 Turbo for less.

Who said they were appreciating? They are just not depreciating as fast the later models will..

when i was looking for one of these ( I now have a mint C2s), good quality low milege c2's were going for between 35k and 38k all day long. Trust me these cars are selling at these prices I could not find one for love or money beacuse they were sold as soon as they were advertised.

However these prices are for cars in the right spec.. ie Manual, original spec and in the right colour. Tiptronics are worth circa 5k less.
