I "need" to fit some harnesses to the GT2 and they require the rear bar for the shoulder straps to thread through. I can get the parts for a good price from Carnewal but the chap there is saying the bar is a royal pain to fit. I was kind of thinking of driving out to Belguim in the GT2 (saving 200eu postage!) and fitting it in his car park.

Four bolts, easy-out recaro seats? Surely it'll take me half an hour????

Has anyone ever fitted one? Is it really that hard?

Apparently not!...Why not phone OPC, ask them how many hours labour they charge to fit one....1/2 that to give an idea of how long it will actually take you in a car park with basic tools smile

I know that AJIT fitted one of these in his GT3. He got it done by a Porsche trained technician and it still took the best part of a day. You also need a lift to get the car up to acceptable working height as the thing is a bloody tight fit and requires 2 people to do the job without damaging the interior.

Gert's quite switched on; I would tend to believe his assessment. That said he might allow you to fit it yourself in his workshop.

Its tricky enough to fit. I did mine, doesnt take a day. About 3 hours for my first time. I'd say somebody who has done a few it would take them an hour and a half tops.

What's so hard about it? Presumably the front seats have to come out...

The trunking behind the carpet above the front seatbelt points needs to the crushed to allow the cage to "sit in". (hammer&timber) Getting the cage into the car and turning it into position inside the car. You need to try a few different approaches.(trial and error,) Car needs to be jacked up to help you get cage into position. Sounds easy..! BTW, i would'nt put urself under additional pressure by trying to fit it in a carpark! You need to take your time to avoid damaging interior or urself!
