I couldn't read the advert -- it was in some sort of CAPITALS LANGUAGE.SM
The Turbo system has to come with cats, no mention of these in the advert, no mention of a brand name (I wouldn't touch a system without knowing the brand name to enable research of its engineering!), an exhaust system with high flow cats will give 20-25hp max, headers I would guess around 10-15hp, so that is 40 horses (more likely 30) absolute max with the best engineering, so no way can you get a 20% gain without adjusting the boost pressure!!!
In addition some Turbo systems cause terrible cabin booming, they can drive you nuts, BE CAREFUL with this one the Euro systems all cost between £2-3.5k so this looks way too cheap, unless he purchased bankrupt stock!

Not necessarily Grant. My euro system cost nowhere near that figure. And the company who make it, fabricate the systems for 9FF.In addition some Turbo systems cause terrible cabin booming, they can drive you nuts, BE CAREFUL with this one the Euro systems all cost between £2-3.5k so this looks way too cheap, unless he purchased bankrupt stock!
As for the advert itself, the picture shows the cats. There is also nothing to stop any prospective purchaser from asking the vendor questions.
J1thk is an ebay shop. So would be selling the item for someone like you or me. They are using a brochure advert for sale. System looks like the techart system, hence the bumper sticker on the gt2.
The system is obviously not new, and price reflects this.
Looks a good deal to me, with the headers. This system with a good map, would produce some good improvements in power/torque.

There is a bypass system for a 99T/GT2 with race cats for sale here.
This provides the best power/torque increases in conjunction with a map, according to independant dyno test.

Check out this power point test.. http://www.rennlist.com/imagineauto/
Car is an X50 (K24s) + ECU stage 4 map (think this means a wild one)
Standard exhaust.. 458bhp 502ft/lb
Europipe .. 467bhp 538ft/lb
Ruf.. 461bhp 497 ft/lb
Fabspeed bypass.. 498 bhp 560 ft/lb..

Sorry guys, anyone claiming a 20% (84BHP on a TT!!!) increase from an exhaust/header system either doesn't know what they are talking about, or doesn't care! If it is a used system why doesn't it say so, if it is a branded product why doesn't it say so, yes I agree you can ask, but all the "proper" adverts tell you all you need to know upfront!
Ukwill, what Euro system did you buy new for £1000????
Anyway chaps the bottom line is if you are happy to take a flier with a grand buying a system claiming a 20% gain from Hong Kong, feel free its your money, but it will be interesting to see of either of you actually do!

Its made by DesignTek, mines being fitted Tuesday
Apparently they're selling off this model cheaper as their Titanium ones are flying off the shelves. Thought its worth a punt for £1k....
But guyvert1 your profiles says you have a 996C4 not a Turbo, or am I missing something?
Apparently they're selling off this model cheaper as their Titanium ones are flying off the shelves. Thought its worth a punt for £1k....The Turbo systems are usually much more expensive as they include cats, haven't had reports on the DesignTek stuff before, I see their new Titanium Turbo model retails for £2500, the old one is listed at £1595, a good price, even better if you have purchased one for £1k brand new... as long as the cats are decent quality, otherwise they don't last very long & the car ends up failing its MOT & ensure you check if the system resonates badly at 2-2.5k revs, some are so bad you just can't live with it!
Worth double checking both before fitting!

Picked up an 02 TT last month, the d/tek is 200cell for cats, I was looking for 100cell but was worried a little about paying £2500 for the pleasure .. these are the £1595 ones, and are brand new, I'll let you know how it goes, but I'm sure UKWILL can give you an idea of quality...

I don'tthink DesignTek 'make' them - I'm pretty sure that, like many sellers of tuning stuff, the stuff is made by someone else. DT are a reseller. My guess is the system is made somewhere in Asia - but I could be wrong.

Yup...I think you'll find they do manufacture, not to mention the big names who buy from them!... From there site:
